Call evan: 516-384-5349Hey guys, anyone know any good fabricators in the NYC/LI area? I bought an AEV tire carrier and found out that hard way that it won't fit a 15" wheel. I need to have the wheel mount offset by about an inch for the tire carrier to work properly. Otherwise, there will be a brand new AEV tire carrier posted in the for sale section soon. haha.
Thanks.
Will do. Thanks Adam.Call evan: 516-384-5349
Hey john good to hear from you. I have seen the AEV carrier and I know what you are talking about. The problem with offsetting the wheel is that you will need to add a spacer block to the tube (the one the tire sits against) as well. This will hold the tire tight otherwise it will wobble.Hey guys, anyone know any good fabricators in the NYC/LI area? I got in touch with Evan today and he's pretty familiar with the AEV setup. The general plan is to offset the wheel mount (or tire) towards the driver side to clear the bracket. It turns out that they didn't design for a 15" wheel because most wheels that size do not fit on the JK.Hey john good to hear from you. Did you get bumper and carrier or just carrier?
Was that you Demitri on the Southern State last night heading east around 231?
Can't you just put a wheel spacer on the tire carrier? I went that route with the Rancho carrier and it worked great. Solid bolts and only 1.5" extension, unlike the huge adapters they sell.I got in touch with Evan today and he's pretty familiar with the AEV setup. I just got he carrier because it could be used with the stock bumper. Now that it's installed, I'm thinking that it would look much cleaner with the AEV bumper too. haha
pics or it didnt happeninstalled my aev snorkel came out sweet![]()
I'd have to put spacers at 3 points on the tire carrier. The tire sidewalls need to be right up against those 3 points. I don't think a wheel spacer at the tire mount would help. The wheel would have to be offset downwards and maybe to towards the driver side. Can't you just put a wheel spacer on the tire carrier? I went that route with the Rancho carrier and it worked great. I have a single Spidertrax spacer if you're interested.
Cool! Tell him I said hi, and remind him I gave you his number. This way next time I have him change my tranny fluid he won't run scaredI got in touch with Evan today and he's pretty familiar with the AEV setup. BB texted me about it on Monday, and I am planning on going. I'd really like to, and to do it with some people I know would be great. I think a few local friends of mine from the Sayville/Bayport area are also planning on that weekend, so we'll see how it progresses! Is anyone planning to attend Rausch over Easter weekend? I'm debating attending, could be swayed to attend with a group.
