On my last Jeep, I just spayed over that caulk stuff on the floorboards. Wasn't an issue, but thought it looked better having been removed from seeing some of the pictures on here.

Now that you've had it done for a while, do any of you guys that removed that stuff wish you hadn't or see any reason to leave it on there? Louder, hotter, etc?

Also, any tips for getting rid of it?

To remove it basically involves a chisel and hammer. I have done it on JoeGlock's Jeep. It's a PIA. Looks great once done but a lot of work.

I would leave the sealer on.
Why? Did you remove yours and regretting it?

Last time I did because I had the "it's got to be there for a reason" mentality. Now I'm not so sure it makes a difference besides maybe a little more heat from underneath.

how does it reinforce the floor boards? that stuff isnt that hard. I removed all of mine in about 45min with hammer and chisel and dont regret it one bit. I ran without my carpet for just over a year before doing it and getting the Linex. I believe it is quieter with the Linex even without the caulking and did not have any trouble driving barefoot.

i used and air chisel to take mine out. no problems so far. i bedlined my interior once and it started to peel around the caulking because of standing water between the cracks so i took it out a redid it. only thing i noticed was a little more noise when going over water but nothing serious. i dont see how this could help support the floor or anything like that and i think its fine to take it out. if you use an air chisel be careful not to dent your floor up. looks much better without it and no peeling so far

I cant say either way as I still have mine in and havent line-x'ed YET. However I will say that I have seen a few rigs that left it in and sprayed over it kinda built it up in that area to smooth it out and it looked killer. Another route I have heard of is to put dynamat over it to smooth it out then spray over it.

You could also just use an orbital with a coarse grit to smooth it out.

anything you dont get up will show through, mine came off in big chunks for the most part, then I just used the new chisel to scrap bare the little stuff left over

Definately take it out.

Its easier with a crow bar than a chisel IMO.
When i took mine out I had RUST underneath it.....

I used the crow bar and then a 4.5" grinder with a wire wheel on it to get it all the way off.
The result is great looks way better.
