So I took the Jeep in for a leaking axle seal (3rd time). The dealership calls me and says "yep its your axle seal and the cost will be in the neighborhood of $900.00!! And your ball joints need to be replaced again we'll do it all for $1600.00" .. I told him to slow down and then asked him what my lifetime warranty would cover because it's covered the seals before? He tells me that I no longer have a warranty because I didn't have the 5 year checkup... I told him that I had it done there last year after he called me to come do it!! He said "no, I see here in the system that you had a service done BUT it was done 2 months and 5 days before it was due! You see it has to be done within a certain time frame with 2 months either way of your 5 year anniversary"! I told him again that it was him Mike that called me at that point to come in?? He said" either way your warranty is gone"!!! I told him fine don't touch the Jeep again I'll be in to pick it up! And he asked me if I wanted them to fix the leak.... I laughed and said no for that price I could put a whole new axle assembly in there! Lol
The reason I'm writing this is to give you guys a heads up on this and don't ever trust the stealership even if you think they're treating you perfect!!! I really thought Mike was different. He always treated me well. This was a big lesson for me! I should of read my warranty before I took it in for that service!

Good to know, I think I have until next June to do mine.

Do you have any receipts for you taking it in? If you were concerned, I'd call Chrysler and complain..you'll likely get a little further.

See, that lifetime warranty shit was from when Chrysler was on life support. Now that the JK has take off, they don't really need to offer that to get people to buy them. So bye bye warranty for the most minuscule shit. Which is total bullshit. We were the ones who bought Jeeps when they needed us the most and theyre hanging us out to dry.

I have not had one single thing covered under that lifetime warranty. Nothin.

Yea, it typical domestic fashion they'll screw everyone they can over until they start hurting again. I don't expect to use my Lifetime for anything, I just would like to play the game with them with how modified mine is. Last time it was in, I got ball joints [w/35s] and a new battery [w/12000lb winch] warrantied

Lifetime warranty is only good for the original buyer/owner of the vehicle. They came with a bumper2bumper 3/36k and lifetime powertrain at the time.

Yeah I have my receipt from that srvc. I'll call them and see what they say.... It's total bullshit but **** them I'll put some in that last longer then a year! It really is like they're trying to wash their hands of these lifetime warranties though! It really couldn't of been more obvious Mike used to know me by name 5 months ago now he was acting as if he never met me before! Sad and wrong!!

Yep 5 days! Go figure... I didn't pay for it, well separately that is. It was part of the deal they had going on!

i am the original owner...maybe she called it something else, but she was definitely trying hard to sell me some kind of warranty coverage
I'm pretty sure the "included" lifetime powertrain warranty ended on 2010 model year and newer..

Ok gotcha. I thought this was a paid for warranty until reading this here. Right, my 2010 has 100k Powertrain and 36k something or another which is already gone. I have no idea what warranty they are trying to sell me now.

Burt, I'd call and raise hell, even though they got ya on the fine print. Seems someone somewhere could wiggle a little. I don't know about Chrysler, but don't most companies have money just for this sort of thing? I know tohatsu does. The whole "it's outta warranty, but guy takes care of it so I'm gonna cover it" account

I knew when I bought mine (2011) that the warranty would be irrelevant. I haven't driven it enough to shake the proverbial monkeys out of the tree (14,800 miles so far) and will run out of time before I ever get to use my warranty for jack. Kind of sucky, but I knew this would be the case going into Jeep ownership. That really sucks, Kevin. Anything that has a paragraph or more of fine print is bound to be set up to screw the end user. Such as it probably is with the lifetime warranty.

Yeah it probably is. To tell ya the truth I was completely nieve to it because up till that point they took really good care of me! But I should of read it....

I've had pretty good luck with my lifetime service plan. They replaced my e-disco, rear locker, front driveshaft, fuel tank and soft top. Got a free loaner car each time as well. The driveshaft kinda surprised even me because I am on 4" of lift.

Just make sure you get that 5 year srvc done in that 4 month time frame, not a day earlier or later!

Really sorry man. Do what you can to fight it and hopefully Chrysler will make it right, especially if the dealer called you in and went through the whole inspection process. I mean it's like a five page checkoff thing specifically for that purpose.

For anybody else, be sure to read your warranty. We just went through the five year check in September (bought in August) and I was 99% sure it is only a 60 day window, 30+/- from the original sale date. I was sweating bullets becaues I'd waited til the last minute.

They replaced the timing cover under the seeping oil TSB and the rear driveshaft because of a torn boot.

I had the same issue... the dealership never repaired a single thing under the LPLW, nickel-and-dimed me all the way through the 5-year period and then even though I had the 5-year inspection they claimed I never did it because they apparently didn't put in their computer that I had them do it. It's apparently some magical service that likes to disappear from their records!

Speaking of these inspections, mine is coming up shortly. How tolerant are you guys finding the dealers in regards to aftermarket parts? I have aftermarket LCAs, front drive shaft, lift, shocks, 37" tires, and skid plates. Should I just take it in as is and cross my fingers or revert back to as much OEM as I can? I was thinking at least put my stock front driveshaft back on.

I had my PCM replaced under the lifetime PTW.

Does Chrysler send out a letter about having the inspection done? I can't remember off hand what month in '09 i bought mine. I'm thinking June.
