And the words were spoken and so it became.
Rock lights that is. With some driving lights added for good measure.
I read somewhere about some $150+ LED rock lights for a pair. As much as I liked the idea of almost no power rock lights in a small compact container there was no way I was going to pay 80 bucks a light. Especially given my track record with lighting which is I usually break them long before they can burn out. So I found some Super Bright LEDs on the internet for about 4 bucks each. This was 6 super brights in a plastic case ready to be mounted on the Jeep to illuminate my path at night.
So I bought a boat load so I'll have spares and proceeded to mount them under my Jeep. I thought about screwing them on but concluded that would be too much work and some places would be near impossible to get to with a drill. So I went off to the local home center and bought some gas and oil water repellant sealant/contact adhesive. So far this stuff is working wonders and all I did to prep was wipe down the area I was going to attach the lights to with acetone.
The wiring was pretty straight forward as I had already run the wires to the grill for when I got around to doing this. But enough rambling here is some pics.
Here is a picture with the flash so you can see what we are looking at. Notice I had lots of poltergeists to help me take the pictures.
No flash. The lights are a lot brighter than they appear and the cameraman was tired after laying on his back all day long playing with lights to get a tripod.
Flash again.
No flash.
While I was in the wiring mood I also wired up my driving lights.
And there was light. And he saw that the light was good. So he decided to change out his diff covers, but that's tomorrows project.
