Really put my Harbor Freight Badlands Apex 12K winch through its paces on this trip... This is an amazing winch for 450 bucks... Heck, it's an amazing winch at twice that price.

Yeah my SO really likes her Badlands winch. It sure is faster and nicer than my 30+ year old Warn M8000. The only minor gripe is the battery for the wireless remote goes dead after about a month. We just use the cord most of the time.

I obsessed over the winch purchase for a while. I was down to getting an 8-10k winch without wireless... or take a chance on the HF 12k w/ wireless.

On the battery, some of the reviews I read where that the battery seems to last forever...one guy even said he had been using for nearly two years and never even turns off the wireless on the winch. I certainly cannot vouch for any of that yet, but I do ensure I turn off the wireless controller on the winch. The remote turns off after so many minutes of inactivity. But for me, so far so good.
