Up for sale today is a Juentai JT-6188 dual band UHF/VHF radio. Used for only about 3 weeks. Price $35 plus shipping from the San Francisco Bay Area.

I passed the ham license test so I’m selling this off and going big on the ham radio.

Compare this radio to the Rugged Radios RM-25R. This model has a keypad handset but the new Ruggeds do not. You cannot edit channel names or put the radio into scan mode with the Ruggeds unless you buy an optional microphone.

The radio does have one minor issue as follows:
The cannel select knob is a little flakey when spinning it in the clockwise direction. No issue with the knob when turning it counter clockwise. Channel up and down works perfectly on the microphone/keypad.

Optional:
New, sealed 17ft RG58 cable with ¾” NMO mount and PL259 connector. Add $15 for the new cable.

Programming:
This radio comes pre-programmed with over 100 channels that are basically police, fire and emergency channels around the Lake Tahoe and Bear Valley areas. In addition to that, the common Rubicon ham repeaters and channels are programmed in plus a few repeaters near bear Valley.

I can optionally program this to be just like the Rugged Radios version, complete with the “Rugged Radios” power on message. Or I can just put your name in as the power on message.

Congrats on the HAM.
I'll take it if you is willin' to sell it to lil ol me.
If so, please program it to say "boobs." when it starts up.

Done. You actually get two rows of six characters each and it is case sensitive so pm me if you want to tweak that message.

I see that you are on the JKCON2018 "attending" list so you get the CUTTS channels on presets 1 & 2.

Unless you want the Mt Diablo repeaters, I'll clear out slots 3 through 9.

If you want to go to this web site and plug in your zip code, this radio actually has a fair amount of presets left if you want to scan some channels close to your zip code.

I run the channel scanner here in Danville while I drive around and I am picking up radio traffic on a number of the Placerville Sherriff, FD and emergency channels. It's not Placerville, though. I think they are shared channels with other locales. One tome they were talking about an elementary school and when I googled the name on my cell phone, it was over in Petaluma - again I was in Danville.

The current channel lineup in this radio is documented here in this thread after "Update 05-11-2018:"
