Is there a chart or list somewhere that describes an Item so you can judge it prior to buying it?

Like what provides more protection, a wife beater, coveralls, leather gloves, or a leather jacket.

The pricing of items on the black market is rather arbitrary, and in no way relates to the actual monetary value, or armor/firepower.

Look here, their is a list of what you can buy where and what the prices are from the stores. If it is more expensive it is better most likely. From your list Leather gloves would be best followed by coveralls, leather jacket then wife beater.

basically, all you can do is go by the price of the item, as listed on that link above, that you would buy an item for at the shop (not the blackmarket price).

the more expensive it is, the better it is.

when it comes to parts you have to ignore the durability of the item in some cases. there are some items, in the same category, that have the same durability, but one costs more than the other. the higher priced one is better.

it doesn't make any sense, but that is how it works.
