I swear I wasn't even looking, but a new Kimber Ultra carry II in stainless has followed me home.

hope to get it out to the range in the next couple days. PIA to field strip for the first time, but I do like the size of it. picked up a desantis holster for it.

Nice! I admire the 1911 design and most of its variants. To me, using & disassembling a 1911 are peeks into the admirable engineering mind of John Browning. Reading a lot of Jeff Cooper's writings years ago definitely didn't lower my admiration for that .45ACP "crunchenticker".

Used to have 2 blued 1911s but sold 'em because I found I don't like using beautifully blued guns in the rain. My .45s now are a Glock 30 and a DA/SA Sig P220SS, & for practical use I prefer those systems to SA. I'd like another 1911 but definitely stainless or otherwise highly corrosion resistant.

Something about the 1911 and a Jeep owner. There is a correlation between the utilitarian use of both items. Simple, yet functional.

As for the rain, have to clean the bitch. But that’s just daily living. Everything has to be cleaned or taken care of. Treat them right and they will last you a lifetime. Last time I got caught in a downpour with the top off, the STI 3” was in the center console. Loving I took the precious metal out. Let her air dry and gave a nice oil rub down the next day. I’m sure my wife was not to thrilled of this lovingly caress I so bathed her in.

First started with a field strip, but went deeper. I could tell it was needed. She begged for attention seeking day and night, waiting to be used. Oil lathered and then...

WTF am I talking about. It’s a goddamn gun. Clean it, shoot it, clean it again and carry that sumbitch everyday (whether in Jeep or on person). I need a new small carry pistol. Something about banking and a 3” 1911 don’t go together.

managed to get her out to shoot a couple times so far. 100 rounds each time. so far 1 FTF each time. not too bad. they claim it has a 500 rd break in period, so should get better as it goes. accuracy is good for a short barrel auto.

it is a bit more to take down then my full size 1911, but not terrible once you get the hang of it. both of mine are in stainless.
