I bet there are 1-2 guys on Pirate that have strong but deeply articulated opinions about the new site.
Actually, quite a few of them are no longer on Pirate.
The XF "upgrade" has made hundreds of folks irate.

I was trying to make a funny. Guess it fell flat.
Seems like moving to a more modern platform has also made this place a larger vector for spam

Kidding aside, I canceled my JKO renewal and signed up + paid the $20.

Yep, cancelled JKO and Pirate and blew the $20 on irate.com. Hell, it's only been up for a couple days and there's more activity than here anymore.

I’m kinda old, I don’t like change.

In the short time I’ve been here I’ve gotten comfortable, and made a bond (even if in my own mind) with several folks.

I registered, even ponied up the $20, did so because I see this place dwindling away.

I’ve seen the process happen several times in other online communities, I get it, it takes money to keep these places going but when the main goal becomes making a profit the “community” generally suffers.

I’m thankful for JKO and the members here, I learned quite a bit, and there’s no doubt in my mind that I have a more capable Jeep than I would have without the help and information that I was offered here.

Having said that, I see the exodus taking place, and I’m not willing to lose track of the relationships.

The Jeep JK section over yonder isn’t “all that”yet but the format is good and the commitment seems valid, I have confidence that it will grow into something worth being involved with.

I’m not trying to recruit anyone, not trying to talk anyone out of leaving JKO.

Simply reporting what I’ve done, and why I’ve done it.
