Like many others who excitedly bought a 2007 JK I experienced a leaking freedom top. No water through it, but definitely some air rushing between the windshield and front panels. When I picked it up from the dealership I also noticed there was no foot well courtesy light nor was there an under the hood lamp. Jeep stopped making these things standard a couple of months ago and also altered the wiring harness so that "major modifications" would have to be made in order to connect them. I am pretty sure if you have a Rubicon or a Sahara (not so sure on the Sahara) the harness with the light hookups is still there. Xs do not have the appropriate harness any longer. I decided as small as these little annoyances were... they were worth being fixed. The dealer thus far has taken care of everything and ordered new latches/seals for the roof as well as engine bay/foot well lights. After hearing about other people's dealer experiences I was definitely relieved. Just thought I'd share my experience and say if you don't have the lights and are not sure if you have the right harness... get the dealer to take a look.

Bad Door Seal

I am struggling with getting my doors to shut properly. If the doors are closed softly the doors tend to not shut thus getting a "Door" indication on the cluster. This has become a real annoyance when everyone is in and ready to go and the "Door" indication is illuminated. Then, everyone has to check their door. This even becomes a real bummer when I am by myself and I have to get out around and check every door. It seems like its just the rubbers and I guess there really isn't a remedy. The top and panels are seated correctly, I just don't get it.:(

If you have the hardtop then yes the Jeep is so airtight you practically have to slam the doors to get them shut. Once I change to soft top my doors shut much easier but yes you still need to give them a commanding push or pull. I'd imagine after the seals relax some then so too will the door closing. ;)

Edit: You may try cracking a window some as this allows the pressure to stabilize and makes the doors a tad easier to close with the hard top.

Good Door Seal

Well, that explains why the door closes easily from time to time and it baffles me. That's right! The widows are cracked down sometimes and that is why they close without much effort.....Duh!:D
Thanks!

Dirty Plastic????

I don’t want to sound like a wimp and cry about my jeep getting dirty but I have to ask. Has anyone had a problem with mud staining the factory black plastic fenders? I have scrubbed them and have not been able to remove the mud stain?? Just asking…….

You mentioned a leaky freedom top, I have an '08 4dr and anytime we get a good rain (which is quite a bit) I get a pretty good drip from between the panels, where they meet the windshield. The panels are seated correctly. Is this a common problem?

Yes for some on this list it is an on going problem. Fpr others like me, my 08 has never leaked. Call it luck of the draw.

Be careful with the Back to Black stuff, I used that on my faded Toyota Taco fenders and they looked great for awhile then I noticed they started getting worse. Seems that stuff starts to build up after a few times then it looks like crap. Kinda like Armor All. I was told that Soft Scrub works really good but have yet to try it. You might want to do a little test spot first. to make sure it's not leaving scratches.

Did anyone else have trouble with a leaking soft top. It took awhile and a leak specialist brought in by the factory but it does'nt leak anymore.

aerospace 303 does a great job of getting stains off and protects the fenders.

also use a brush on the stains when washing

I fixed the air whistling sound by adding a small piece of slit rubber hose to the latch loop on the windshield so the cam latches pulled the top down harder. I've had it since summer and it's seldom been out in the rain (Sacramento). However I've never expereinced leaking in car washes or when washing it since the fix. I guess if no air comes in, water won't either. You might want to check if the rubber foot thing is still on your top's latch. I lost one of mine pretty early in the game. They do come off easliy and their absence might be missed. However, if they are not on with a stock setup, you will get the air and water coming in between the windshield and the (hard) top. I don't know about the soft top...never had it on yet. However the latching principle seems the same.

Same problem here but only on the driver door. All other doors are fine. I just took the habit of closing that door a little harder. It's a jeep after all ...

Sigh....

...I do have some gripes...24S package on X now includes fog lamps and and tow hooks...mine has neither...no underhood pad/insulation or lamp, but do have a footwell lamp...go figure...question I have is if one has the underhood pad, and has a collision requiring replacement, MOPAR doesn't list it in its parts inventory...why the big deal?
