Curious what you guys have as far as this. I know it wouldnt be too hard to do to mount an in cab switch for winch controls. This would be nice so I'm not digging for my controller, but I also thought about using my winch as a suck down winch in the front. Curious what it takes to do this. Would prefer just to use my current winch instead of an ATV winch to save weight. Post pics if you got em.

For the in cab control - 12 volt guy.com !

Member and vendor on here
Good call, found where he makes a harness. I was thinking about just getting a Contura SPDT momentary (on-off-on) switch so if he makes a harness that would simplify things. Not that it would be hard to connect 3 wires but a ready made harness would be nice.

+1 for 12 volt guy. Really easy to do business with. Has plenty of "ready made" options and can also go custom if you need.

Edit. Pic:

Thats a pretty slick setup too. I was thinking of just using a power cutoff and then like a rocker switch (both the contura) I just like those style switches and since I already have an SPod. I like the location you put that though. That would be convenient.

Anyone have any input on using a winch as a suck down winch??

This is one way to use the winch for a draw down. My Warn Powerplant sits low in my Teraflex front bumper. I bolted an alum fairlead to the back of the winch mount and ran the rope out the back. It clears under the radiator - the line then runs over the track bar down to the axle. I used a 3 ply limit strap that is just looped around the axle with a 2 piece collar keeping the strap from sliding towards the passenger side.

I used a pigtail about 4' long which is bolted to the axle strap. The other end is attached to my winch line with a soft rope shackle. I don't have to crawl under the jeep to go between a normal winch line and the suck down. This was a budget project that really works good for me! No picks, I'm in LV for Christmas.
I'd like to see pics of that when you get a chance. Trying to picture it in my head.

is it a PITA to run the winch line out the back of the winch?? I have a Warn x8000i so should be doable. Thinking about getting some synthetic and I'd really like to run a safety thimble but I cant really see a simple way to connect and disconnect from the axle that way...hmm. I wanted to run the safety thimble cause it looks clean but also I dont want to have like 4 feet of the synthetic exposed to the elements, so it would be nice to have most of it on the drum and under a cover... I might have to get creative with a pulley or something...hmm.
