My ABS wires were long enough until I stuffed the front tire and got the wires looped under the shock mount. Came off that rock and my dash lit up like a Christmas tree :pissed: ABS, ESP, and Traction Control lights all lit, and got a nice little *ding*.

I've seen that several people have broken the wires and that it is a $10-15 part, but what is involved in actually replacing it? I'm probably going to buy 2 and extend the leads and do both front sensors. I should probably use more zip ties this time to keep it out of the way.

PS: Any day wheeling with only $15 in damage is a great day. :beer:

Do I get to the 8mm bolt from the exposed part of the knuckle (toward the center of the vehicle) or do I need to remove the wheel, rotor, etc.

you need to remove the tire and rotor. it will all be abvious once you do.

the only fun part is tring to fanagle it out the hole on thhe dust shield

Like it's already been said,you'll have to pull the tire and rotor. I broke one of mine when doing my front end build up. When I tried to get the sensor out, it snapped. You may end up breaking the portion that goes into the housing, but at least you have a spare. If you put some lithium grease on it, it will go back in easier. Good luck.

When I replaced mine I broke one in half... One half in my hand and one half remaining in the housing. :shaking:

To get it out I gently drilled maybe 3/16" into the broken off part and then threaded a drywall screw into that hole. A simple tug after that and the rest came out.

Getting it out past the dust shield is a PITA, but not so bad. Good Luck! ;)

It's easy, the hardest part is getting it unpluged the finding the holes to put the plug back into. I had to do it by touch.

If you're lucky you can splice what you have.

Thank you all for the advice. I'll get started on it in the next couple days. The wires broke internally but the insulation is intact, so I have no idea where the break is.

Don'T put the connector back on the tower it will allow for more movement

Make sure it just didn't come unplugged.

same happened to me yesterday when I did my ball joints...half of it is still in the hole...
