ghey or try it?
Now that my battery is in the rear I have the space where the stock battery was. That and it appears there is nothing in the way all the way up to the windshield that can not be cut/adjusted.
So I was thinking make a box for the old battery spot, run the duct to that cowl cover/panel, make a "cover" for this intake on the cowl and make a longer one for fording when I need it.

If you have no clue what I mean:
"civilian" H1 air intake (military one is a mushroom shaped one)

with riser for fording:

on a TJ

Mind you I would color match and make it look "part of" instead of a random mushroom near my windshield

Would be pretty sweet. Is there enough room on the cowl? Would you make the hood open "backwards" like the HMMWV? Definatly intrested to see what would be involved and what you come up with.

I have already started this, I got the precleaner from sy-klone. I have the air box built I am just waiting to get a smaller battery from odyssey so I can move it to the front of the engine bay. You have to go through the cowl with some tubing other than that it is pretty easy.

I was thinking a CF or fiberglass box where the battery used to be and have it neck back and up under the cowl with a "plug in" hole. I might just use that cowl cover as the top to the intake and have it held on with a Dzus fastener or something.

The stock battery will fit in the front. I did it with the Ripp SC kit. It required the battery to be moved there.

USMC like everyone else it sounds innovative, the only thing I'm thinking is our JK's have only a small portion of body panel on the sides in that area and then the flimsy Jk wiper/vent panel. Where the batter is located you might could run it through the hood so long as you built a flex/swivel for it to hinge with the hood. Look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Did the kit come with a mount plate, or would you mind taking a picture of how it mounted. Thanks

I was originally going to place it on the hood until I got the precleaner in the mail and set it on the hood, looks kind of silly.

i ran a snorkel on my ZJ before they had a kit for it. i used a ammo can along with an airfilter similar to a k&n, and some connectors .... all purchased at Autozone. the ammo can i had arround for geocaching. :D

never had an issue with it. seemed to flow fine for the 4.0, and i liked to let it roar. i could pull the lid for "maximum flow" or install the lid for "maximum fording"

the ammo can is prefabbed, water tight and tough as nails.
