Before I had brought my vehicle here, I knew this shop was expensive. After my experience, I now know it is because the owner is dishonest and unreasonable.

I have a long version and a short version of this story. The short version is I paid nearly $5,800 for a lift kit and new tires for my vehicle. After the install, I was told I needed to come back to re-torque the new components. I was told the re-torque would cost an hour of shop time but the owner himself offered to "help me out" on the cost.

When I came back for the re-torque, I had also asked them to install some wheel spacers for me. My vehicle was on their lift for 35 minutes TOTAL for both items (I stood there and watched the entire time - I know exactly what they did and did not do). When it was time to settle up, the invoice included two fully priced hours of shop time ($110/hour plus tax). The owner was not there, so I tried to reason with the employee that the amount was too much for the work done to which he AGREED. But the employee's attempt to reach the owner and my attempts to reason went nowhere. So I foolishly paid it. I was contacted again by the employee after the owner got word of my poor experience and was offered a shop credit. I told them I preferred a refund. I was told to email the owner. He responded and asked what can he personally do to make it right. I again asked for a refund. And never heard back. I repeated several times to the employee that called me and in emails to the owner that I am more than happy to speak on the phone about this, but the owner never agreed.

The owner is dishonest and unreasonable.

DISHONEST - Owner told me he would "help me out" on cost of labor for re-torque. Apparently in his terms, this means charge double.

UNREASONABLE - The owner felt comfortable charging me for 2 hours of labor for 35 minutes of work. Especially disappointing after spending nearly $5,800 at his shop.

I have more detail on this experience, but there is just too much stupidity to outline here. This is just not the type of place or the type of business practice I would feel comfortable recommending to anyone.
What annoys me is I took time to reply to your tard ass and you deleted the entire thread. Don't be a dildo.

I guess should have waited until the owner came back. Or maybe buy a fucking torque wrench and learn how to do somethings on your own.

Figure you have to jack at least 4 times. Remove and re-install 4 wheels. Drink a beer. Torque 40 wheel fasteners. Drink a beer. Roll around under the Jeep and torque about 20+ suspension fasteners and grease zerks. Drink a beer. That would take my slow ass 2hrs easily. I'd include a 5 wheel rotation and mark my fasteners with a paint pen, too. And drink another beer.

I guess there are still some men left in the world and not everyone is a whiny little bitch. Just because you spent lots of money doesn't mean you get shit for free.

If more than one tech was working on his vehicle it might equal more shop labor hours than the actual time in the shop. At my company if a job requires multiple techs the customer gets charged an hour for each tech for each hour we are actually on site. Three techs on site for an hour and you get charged three hours of labor, even though we were only there for an hour. Pretty standard.

Also, flat rate is a thing. If that shop uses flat rate pricing maybe the flat rate time for a re-torque is 1 hr. and the flat rate for spacer install is also 1 hr. In that case it would certainly take manager/owner approval for a worker to charge less than the flat rate, regardless of how long it actually took. That's how flat rate works.

When the owner said he would "help out" with the cost, was the actual cost discussed? I'd need more details before condemning a company. Maybe they overcharged, maybe not. But nothing in that story has me ready to grab a torch and pitchfork.

Eh, the HGTD already happened, so there's no point applying reason.
