More details on install would be helpful. Did it come with a 150A circuit breaker array or any kind of protection to install between the battery and motor? Does it click? More info would help.

Your remote has a loose connection or a bad switch more than likely. See, those are little details that change the response you get. The remote should have three pins. If you have a digital multimeter, you can check the pins on the control to rule it out by finding the common pin and the checking both sides of the switch. Refer to my rudimentary drawing I just whipped up. One of the pins is the center of the toggle switch. One of the pins sends +12vdc to the IN solenoid and one of the pins sends +12vdc to the out solenoid. If only one side tones out, either exchange the controller or replace the toggle switch.

Fuck the winch. Pull the cable off or wrap it around the bumper. Toss your Hi-Lift in the back and go wheeling this weekend!
x2 you dont need a winch to go off roading, take that bad boy off and go have some fun. Deal with it when you get back, or take it back to the harbor freight ya got it from. And if your going by your self, just dont do any thing real crazy that might require you to have a winch. All ya really need is a tow strap and some one can get ya out of where your stuck.
