My cruise stopped working today and when I checked for codes this is what I got P 0593.

The P means powertrain
The 0 means SAE
The 5 means Vehicle speed control & Idle control system
and the 93 ( whole code P 0593 ) means speed control switch 2 circuit high

any one out there ever have this ????
What was the problem?
What fixed it?

I recently installed a cobra 75 cb and firestikII antenna. I had the antenna tuned so I would not draw too much current.

I tapped the power from the cb into the wires of the power plug outlet on the lower right of the center dash stack.

Even after the cb install the cruise was working fine untill today. So I do not know if this problem is related to the new cb.

I have a AEV procal and I am going to reset the computer so the code is not there and hopefully the cruise will work ......I hope :bawling: !

Any and all comments are welcome and appreciated.

OK I reset the code with the AEV procal and the criuse started working again.

But, It has killed it self 2 times again with the same code. I does not die while the cruise is set.
It dies when the cruise is on and I am just driving without it set.

This sucks I am at 42,000 miles and all I have is the lifetime drive train warranty and this is probablly not coverd:pissed:

your clock spring is a ribbon cable I do believe, its in the steering wheel and part of what affects the CC, there is also a steering control module that controls the whole dash and steering column, did you steering wheel recently get wet?

NO STOP SHOUTING in ugly yellow caps :thefinger::laughing:

Well I took it to the dealalership today and spoke with the service tech before he drove it in and told him EVERYTHING I have stated in this thread.

He used the diagnostic Chrysler scan tool and then a Air bag only scan tool.

He then procedeed to basically look for and open connection behind the air bag and on the steering colum for the remainder of the time.

And then maybe last 10 minutes, give or take 3 or 4 minutes, he did a pressure test on my radiator cause it has been weeping from the bottom of the tanks and looked at my transfer case cause it has real slow leak also.

Bottom line they charged me $190.00 to tell me what I told them when I took it in. :shaking:
" I think the clockspring is bad " WTF !!!

I could agree with one hour of labor but this seems like a classic "stalling to get more service time" rippoff . I am more than slightly :pissed:.

Now it's another $358.00 for the clockspring and labor.

They are getting me a new Radiator under warranty. Like that is gonna make up for the overcharge on the diagnostic labor for the clockspring?

The transfer case leak is coverd by the lifetime drivetrain warranty.

Chrysler is covering the radiator and labor at 42.6k miles but NOT the clockspring and labor....... this does not make any sense to me at all:shaking:.

thats insane they are charging you 190 plus the 385 for the clock spring right? and then covering the radiator under warranty is odd too, are they saying thats part of the power train?

just to let you know the clock springs lists for 277 and sells for 190 on moparpartsamerica.com you could always do that yourself if its not to late.

The $190 was just for the diagnostics today.

The $385 is for the clockspring and labor to replace it.

Total of $575 to tell me the clockspring is bad and replace it:pissed:

Radiator is NOT coverd under the lifetime powertrain warranty.
The Chrysler rep said "a radiator should last longer than 42,000 miles". So they are replacing it.

Well I think a clockspring should last more than 42,000 miles also !!:pissed:

I'm surprised it's not covered. I wonder if the not covered radiator caused an overheated engine..if they'd cover it lol :grinpimp:

The radiator is not covered, BUT chrysler is replacing it for FREE + FREE Labor.

BUT Chrysler is NOT replacing the clockspring for free:shaking:

WTF ????

Niether one of them is covered by the lifetime warranty ?????

BTW has anybody actually put thier hands on a JK clock spring?? By the looks of the pictures I have seen it looks like a slip ring. A slip ring can spin in one direction indefinitely and never bind up. Slip rings can still get opens like clock springs, but they can usually be repaired and last longer. I am asking is because I work for a company that makes slip rings and I test slip rings for a living.
