Just a thought: You may not want another option but someone might like the idea and it's very cost effective.
Another option:
I use ratchet straps and swing hooks in my garage. They work very well and I can remove my hardtop in about 15mins. by myself. I park my Jeep under it since I can lift it high enough.

Check out the write up section there are a bunch of great ideas that guys have come up with including the ones above. There is a lot of money to be saved making your own IMO

That is what I am going to do! I have limited over head space, and have seen this method before. I will work perfect for me! Thank's for sharing.
I stopped keeping track of cost at about $150. But that included all the wood for the a-frame. Still cheaper than a store bought one.

This is great, I am glad you shared this.
I used a Racor hoist and I love it. Costs $150. Put the freedom tops on the rack, and wrap a couple of straps under the top. Then using a cordless drill just lift it off the jeep. I think there is a thread around here somewhere.

Amazon Link. (search the reviews for Jeep, many are using this)

Thanks for all the ideas. I guess I will build one. My garage is too tall for the ratchet strap idea, but I like it. So I will be doing something modified like CJ7s...I'll put some pics up when I get it done, but that won't be a for a while.
I looked at picks of the Lange, then rigged up my own hoist on the cheap. Took a few attempts/changes to get it working easy enough for a one person removal, but it worked well enough that when I sold my hard top the hoist went with it.
