Hi guys,

Need a little advice...
I have an opportunity to purchase (5) new Good Year MTR's (OLD MILITARY STYLE) for roughly $500.

I'd like to run these on AEV wheels.

Should I expect any problems mounting or balancing these?
What do each of these tires weigh?
Any issues with the age of these tires? (gotta be close to 7-9 years old)

Good idea or bad idea to buy these any drive them on my jk?

There three things that turn tires into junk, time, miles and injury. Those are really pretty old. They would likely be fine for a dedicated offroad rig, I'm not sure I would run them on the road for long.

I would be leery of the age. The production date is stamped on them so have the seller tell you what that is

Recheck the size also as they are likely 37x12.50-16.5 and not 17s. Saying that since you mention old style military.

I've met a couple people that swear by them and there are a few people with older TJs and YJs that I wheel with that still have them and they work fine.

Seems like a good deal for $500. Tires do have a life span, but there are plenty of people that have classic cars or cars that they don't drive all that often with really old tires. As long as they aren't cracked and dry-rotted then they are probably fine.
