Anyone have any experience with both? I have a spiderweb shade ultramesh and like it. The only drawback is it doesn't stretch to the sides as much as I'd like. There are good size gaps along the sides for the S. Texas sun to cook the kids. The pics on the gearshade site look like the shade goes all the way to the roll bars.

Can any comment on the two?

Ditto, I'd like to know about this also. I've always thought it strange that people seem to rant about how much they love the spiderweb, but I never pulled the trigger on one specifically due to this huge design flaw (in my opinion).

@ rob & jeeper, does the dirtydog shade pretty much go all the way to the rollbars? Are there large gaps between the rollbars and shade? The kids and I love the top off, but that S TX sun can really beat down on the side of your face, shoulder, and neck - even from the ~3" gaps.

Like I said, love the SWS, if only it was about 4-5" wider. Looks like the dirty dog shade might be in my future this summer... unless I want to be in the wife's car every time we're running errands with the kids :cwm13:

I love my DirtyDog shade. More money yes but well worth it! The quality is amazing! They use specific bungee straps with hooks and not the run of the mill bungee balls that Spider uses. Makes a real tight fit.
And yea all the way to the roll bar, no gaps at all. That is why I chose it over the competition. Being a fair skined redhead I need the protection too.

I have since removed all thr roll bar padding so there is a slight gap but still not that big of an issue for me.

LILWB, thanks for the pic and comments. That is exactly what I was looking for.

Love the Gearshade. I had Bill do some customizing for me so that it has a little more coverage on the sides and I love it. Not only that but the pockets are great for storage.
Do you have any pics of the coverage/custom work?

Been looking for something that is along the same lines, but in a complete block out cover, not just a shade.
Been thinking the same thing. There's an upholstery shop not far from where I work that also does convertible tops. I'm thinking of see if they can use the SWS as a template and make a solid one. If I had the $$, then I'd get the best top NX. Maybe I'll just keep saving my pennies :(

Dirty dog goes all the way to the edges, I fought this debate for two years. It fits great right up to the roll bar padding.my son likes to lay up there and I put the hard top on without removing it. South texas sun, fuck I live right off the water south of Kemah. Sun is not an issue for my little buddy in the back, now my side may be a different story.

Oh and I have the one piece that starts at the windshield and goes to the rear bar, and then I have the second piece that goes from that bar down the 45's which does an awesome job killing night time glare or evening sun in the rear view.

I too have Spiderweb Shades ultra mesh top. Love it but it does have the gaps. Their trailmesh top doesn't have the gaps. It fits perfectly. The ultramesh is a stretchy type of material. I may just have to buy the trailmesh later. Great customer service. I bought my SWS at Jeeptoberfest. Needed one of their shorty bungees at jeepbeach. Here ya go, No problem. Great guys and hot chicks. They're usually at almost every event.
