I did this write up on the other forum so if anyone is interested here ya go
fold the seat down and locate the zipper on the outer lower corner of the seat, you will have to gently pry it out. unzip the zipper and unsnap the lower part of the seat cover pull the seat cover up. before you raise the seat to finish pulling the seat cover up remove the cable that is located in the same area as the zipper just twist and pull in one motion. fold the seat up and pull up on the cover it is Velcro to the seat cushion so you will have to tug a little. now pull out on the seat cushion you don't have to remove it. you will now see the bracket for the headrest remove the two 8 mm bolts and pull that friggin bracket out. If you haven't done so already make sure you have pulled the head rest cushion off by removing the lower cover and pushing in on the retainer (spring loaded silver bar). now remove the clip that is holding the cable to the seat frame by twisting while pulling with a pair of pliers. now put the cover back on and repeat on the other side, I removed the other side blind by just sticking my hand up the front of the cover without pulling the cover off completely.

Thanks - I've been wanting to do this ever since I got my Jeep. I was hoping it would be a little less involved, but it looks doable.

very doable and it should only take you 30 minutes
Just got done doing this; thanks for the write-up! Visibility is much improved.

For those that do not want to remove them you can bungie them in the down position if you hold it down as you raise the seat. Then just bungie it to one of the hooks on the floorboard directly below them. They can be flipped back up when someone sits in the seat by undoing the bungie.

Thanks to Phil D for showing me that little trick to gain some much needed visibility.
Thanks man I'm gonna do this mod today. Makes adjusting child seat a lot easier.
You can get mad at them and put all your weight on them and they will let go. They will then move back with just the slightest touch. Ask me how I know:D
so 2 questions. How in the **** did you get the zippers to unzip? Thats what took my the longest. Then on the double seat my sipper came off so now I need to figure out how the hell im gonna put it back on. But thats for the great mod. Now I can see..
I'm in the process of doing this to my rear head rest's... i just took the whole seats out... I wanted to clean the interior.
thanks for the write up!

we did mine a few weeks ago - big thanks to chris (cjb321) and his small hands!

makes the seats a LOT easier to fold!
My wife complains about the front passenger headrest. I'm gonna try this out on that one and see if it makes her happy. It won't, but she can't say I didn't try.

You can turn the headrest around if it sticks out too much for her liking...

Just remember these headrests are probably not there for comfort so much as preventing your neck from bending in half in case of an accident.
Great write up! Did this mod tonight and everything went smoothly.:smokin:
I started with the bungee tie down technique, then the slip the spring off the headrest post technique. Finally got around to doing this. I should have done this in the first place, this is way better. I think I put it off because I thought it was going to be harder than it was.

Thanks for the write up, I am sure my solution would have involved a grinder / sawzall and would not have ended up so clean. Pulling that shit out was very rewarding.
This is good. my rear set will not fold down due to the little cable being broken I guess. Now thanks to this I know how to fix it.

thanks.
you can even do it and keep the padding on, thats how i did it. It only took me about 20 minutes also.

I laughed so hard at this because I pictured myself doing that and losing my mind when the popped back up.
