Looking at front bumpers, I would like to get one that has mounts for the factory fogs but i found some i would ditch the fogs and mount aftermarket ones. My question is, could i just tap into the factory fog wiring instead of running a complete new harness and having a useless one laying there?

Depends on what year you're talking about in terms of watts the stock wiring and finicky Canbus can handle. Pre-2010 you can get away with 45w bulbs, but 2010 and after you are limited to about half that. In either case, your much better off going with a relay triggered by the stock fog wiring at the steering column staulk (or seperate switch if you desire) and drawing power from a seperate wire direct from the battery. That way your not relying on the wimpy stock wiring for power and you fog light choices are not limited. Do a search, many choices out there and folks have posted simple wiring diagrams. It really isn't expensive or difficult to do it up right.
