Hello, I am slowly (teacher salary) transforming my Jeep into what I have always wanted it to be. I am currently tackling the lights.

I am pretty sure I am going to go with the JW Speaker headlights, but I am on the fence about the fog lights. I have the factory bumper for now and will be putting the new fog lights back in the factory location.

The two options I am looking at are the Rigid Industries D-Series DOT SAE Fog Lights and the J.W. Speaker 6145 LED Fog Light Kit

Can anyone share their experiences with ether of these two light options or pass along any advice?

Thanks in advance.:gluging:

A customer of mine has the JW Speaker 6145 kit on his 2012 JK and is happy with them. He paired them up with his JW Speaker headlights.

Which ever route you go, make sure you get the pigtail harness to go from your factory plug to the fog light plug. It makes connecting them simple and saves you from hacking up the factory harness. Some places include it, some don't.

i run the Expedition One BasicDX w/ the removable wings ; these also contain the OEM/aux fogs that you can detach when you wanna run it stubbified...since I busted the OEMs (plus they are mediocre as we all know all-too-well..) so I just slammed some pilot ElCheapos with bright-as-flip H3 super chinese bulbs in them ; they have a ricer blue tint but the light is white as heck & I can run just them if my h4 conversion headlights for any reason should fail. They are that bright, is my implication...Don't get me wrong or think I don't run LEDs but I use those only for aux lighting & like my fogs and headlamps on the JK to be anlog...my LED tails gimme enough reason to not trust LEDs for my main nor my fog lamps( I know I know ..:shitstorm:)
I can bust them up on trees or ledges - which rarely happens ,but ,you know- & easily (CHEAPLY) replace 'em....

I know the OP wanted opinions on the two LEDs but with the word 'Teacher' and 'Salary' together, I thought the economical integrity of my input might be helpful...$25 approx+bulbs about $40

Thanks for the input. As usual, Yall have given me more to think about and look into before I make a decision.

Here are mine. I only paid $210 for these and they are super bright. The guy I got them from sells the fogs as well but I can't use them in mine.

These are DOT approved as well

Your first decision needs to be whether you want a real fog beam or just lights.

If you want fog beams, you don't want bright, that just reflects back in your eyes and blinds you. Amber is good, but if the beam pattern is right, white light can be just as effective.

If you don't particularly want a true fog beam, I would go with a rigid D2 or similar in the OEM location.

I have the Rigid DOT fogs and love them. They aren't blinding in fog if they're aimed right(I live in Beaufort SC, we get a lot of fog in the morning) They're really bright, too. I have them wired into my Switch Pros panel and use them as DRLs.

I bought the JWspeaker Fogs last winter, and was too lazy to install them. However I installed them this weekend when I put in the JWspeaker EVO2 headlights, and all I can say is wow. Now I can't believe I waited so long.

My only complaint about them is the wiring is flimsy and needs to be protected - at least it does if the rear of the lights are exposed to the tires at all (like mine on my mid width LOD). Haven't tackled that yet, but will have to figure something out.
