Fighting with my firearms? They're my friends! :thefinger:
lol

.....Any one else out there thinking like me or should I take this tinfoil off of my head.:gluging:
I've had my conceal carry permit for quite a while but have been very lax about carrying unless we are hiking in remote areas, etc.

That changed overnight. I probably won't be one of those carrying extra firepower but at least I won't be caught unarmed and defenseless.

so the equipment is all very important.

but how many of you guys spending thousands on this stuff have actually sacked up and spent 3-500 on a real class to learn how to fight with your firearms?
This^^^ Not yet but it's on my to-do list.

Depending on the situation, I think it's especially important for those of us who don't have LEO or Military experience/training.

Im all for carrying but PLEASE DO NOT leave your weapons in your vehicle unsecured. That's just friggin stupid. I don't go where I cant carry. I also have Tuffy stuff in my vehicles to secure anything. While I don't condone leaving weapons in a vehicle at all, I have conceded myself to buying the tuffy security stuff as a last resort.

i'm in california, where the only people allowed to carry guns are cops, criminals and the bodyguards that protect the politicians...

if i were in a "free" state, i'd have a pistol on my hip, an AK in the jeep's security area and belt fed machine gun mounted to the rollcage.

I have been in New York City on vacation since Sunday. Having a blast but it is a little unnerving to think that last night when I was doing the tourist thing and walking around Time Square, only the bad guys had guns. CC in New York for regular citizens is rare.

I'll be glad to get back home to Georgia where I feel very comfortable knowing that many, many law abiding people around me are carrying just like me.

I got all my training free of charge about 47 years ago and that was followed immediately by OJT in a strange and beautiful land inhabited by little asian people who didn't like me very much. The most important thing is to remember that if you do respond to a terrorist attack, don't make yourself unknown to the LEO's, they don't know you from Achmed. Don't be a target.

Thank you for serving.

we get a lot of vets and actually some active military in the classes i take. especially in pistol classes. the military does a great job of training for carbine/rifle... pistols... not so much.

Pretty sure that they just needed a hug from you and they would love you. According to liberal logic.

Yeah, it was discovered early on that napalm and carpet bombing worked a hell of lot better than sitting around a jungle campfire singing KumBiYah but I'm positive if Odumbo would have teamed up with Kerry back then they would have made campfire singing work just as well as they have negotiated with the Iranians. :gluging:

Agreed. Pistol issue depended on your job. Officers carried whatever, but mostly .45's as did M-60 assistant who also carried ammo, extra barrel and a .45 from what I experienced. In my opinion pistol training should include not only accuracy but situational awareness and the laws pertaining to pistol defense and carrying in your state.

I'm lucky as far as training goes.
One of my best friends is a LEO. He's an RRO(rapid response officer)
He's also an NRA certified instructor and is the firearms instructor for his police department.
He and my cousin and I have our own outdoor shooting range/campground
(and bug out cabin)about an hour from my house.
We get our training for free, but the trade off is he's probably more critical of our abilities than a stranger would be cause he he know's if the SHTF we're the guys watching his back.

One of my buddies is a former Ranger and currently a Correctional Officer. He's shown me some of their drills, mostly stuff for in close. Going through the motions is one thing, takes practice to actually put rounds on target. I'm right on par until he shows me something I hadn't seen...damn bullets go everywhere. D:

Train train train. You got that right.

my bullets aren't even legal in NY lol.
There are no illegal bullets in NY that are not illegal everywhere else.
What you got?

You have to make a big distinction between NYC the surrounding counties and the rest of NY State. I have full carry anywhere except some .gov buildings.

Is NY not a reciprocal state for you?
NY does not reciprocate with anyone.

I did make a distinction. I said I was in NYC.
I was responding to this and you saying New York as a stand alone in the second half of the other quote.

You obviously live in New York and have a carry permit, which is excellent. I don't want to crap on your state. Hell, I was born in Plattsburg many many years ago.

But do you disagree that New York State is in the top 5(top 10 for sure) states with the most restrictive gun laws?
