Just noticed a case in Tehas where a veterinarian is in trouble for killing a feral cat (on her own time) with a bow and arrow. It seems the trouble started when she self posted on facebook. Almost every post on the news articles are people calling to hang her, or worse. She was fired from her job and her employer asked for her vet license to be revoked. There is a hearing going on right now.

Other than the obvious millennial social media angle of stupidity, in WY she would have done nothing wrong. Here feral cats are varmints and can be shot anytime of day or year per the state game laws. Personally, if the animal is not a pet (and therefore feral) I have zero issues with what she did, well other than the aforementioned 'look at me' fb move.

Personally, I think this is in the same category of another article I saw last week of some writer trying to get animal deaths included in the topic of 'gun violence'. The Victims of Gun Violence Politicians Won't Talk About

Don't get me wrong, I love my pets, but a feral cat can do some damage to smaller animals. I really do not get all the fuss about, just for disposing of a nuisance. I could see if it was 50/50 for and against but 99% of the public post wanted to crucify her. Who knew far left liberalism is alive and well in Tejas....

The problem I have with stories like this is not that people love and stand up for the rights of animals, but that they put animals above people.

When it comes down to it, it was a feral cat. She didn't go onto someone's property and kill a kid's pet or something. Ruining her life (firing her from her job and attempting to revoke her license is taking away her livelihood) over a feral cat is way extreme. EDIT: Not to mention the commenters calling for her to be shot, jailed for life, executed, or saying she'll burn in hell over this.

People shouldn't torture or be cruel to animals, and we should be responsible caretakers of our natural environment. But killing an animal isn't intrinsically wrong. So unless there is some specific reason you aren't allowed to kill feral cats, I don't believe someone's life should be ruined over something like that.

Now, as far as being fired, I suppose that's her employer's prerogative (whether I agree with it or not). They may have believed the facebook posting was bringing bad attention (I do think it showed poor judgment, but mostly just because of today's over the top culture of animals over people). You do have to be careful what you do in public when your employer thinks your actions could in some way represent them. But as for them pushing to have her license revoked, that's over the line in my opinion.

I know people who are way, way, way over the line in terms of this kind of thing (putting animals before people), and it's crazy what they will do.

The comments in that article are.........interesting.

Research has shown that many serial killers start out by torturing animals and then move up to doing the same thing to people.
I fully agree. Someone who hurts animals is also capable of hurting humans
The average person now days is a fucking full retard bandwagon zombie. It gets worse everyday. There are probably 150 million people in this country who should catch an arrow.

Just one more reason I don't FB! Ever.
I really don't want every libtard, tree hugging ,animal groper knowing what I do on my day off.
When I was a logger I'd hear "You're raping the Earth!"
Go wipe your ass with a spotted owl then.
While hunting-" You're killing Bambi!"
No-Bambi gets a pass, I'm after his dad.
Riding my Harley-" You're causing noise pollution!"
What? Can't hear you over this Thunderheader.

Cat killing would almost certainly decline if we were allowed to hunt liberals.

People and their fucking Facebook. Holy shit, their just cats. We used to tie their tails together and throw them in the pond. Watch them swell up and then shot them with pellet guns.
Think what you want about my state of mind. I don't care and wouldn't post it on Facebook or anything else.

Everyone seems to think now, that everything they do is so important or cool, the entire world needs to know about it.

I have to agree with this sentiment. It would seem people do not have enough actual problems in their life and spend time worrying about non-problems, creating drama where there is none. Kind of like a whole society of teenage girls that never grow up.

If people had to worry about where their next meal was coming from or if a political regime was going to ride into their village and enforce whatever ideology by violence all such 'problems' would go away.

I don't know why but that reminds me of a line that George Carlin used when he said something like"did you ever notice that all the women you see protesting at abortion clinics are women you wouldn't want to fuck anyway?"
