Hey folks, I’m swapping a 5.7l VVT Truck motor into my 2007 JKUR, manual to auto at same time. Anyway I would like to buy a handheld programmer. I would want the Rubicon specific abilities for sure, tire size etc. What I’m wondering is can I have a Hemi engine on a JKUR tuner? I would want one that can data log for custom tuning in the future. Is this even possible?

JSS or RPM extreme may be your best help, but I can tell you that your Jeep and the Hemi engine will be two separate computers. I had my LT tuned, and paid a dude 100 for the fee to purchase my vin to put on his HP tuner software, now he can change all sorts of preferences. However, I wanted my Jeeps computer to turn on the cooling fans sooner, but I would have had to pay another 100 to purchase my Jeep’s vin.
I am using the Chevy engine computer and Jeep computer, interfacing using a Motech module.

I have been told HP tuners is the most compatible with Jeeps/chrysler/Dodge.

Also see what dacapatain20 did, he has a lot of info in his thread.

Good luck on the swap!

You can run something like a trail dash for the Rubi stuff but I would highly doubt it will touch the Hemi side as far as tuning goes.

Depending on who programmed the Hemi side and what calibration they used, a diablo programmer may work but it would more than likely try to do a calibration update and restore it to stock first and leave you with a non driving paper weight.

We can read the ecu and tune it with HP tuners depending on what changes you want done. This would probably be the safest way to go about it.

Hemi swap tuning is a crap shoot because they don't use a factory calibration and most of the time it's hybrid tuning between several different calibrations.
