My engine overheated today, spewed coolant out at the radiator. I had gone thru a mud puddle, but other than that, I can't think of anything else that would have caused it. 4lo and 4hi some sections with lockers (hammers area). Worse part is, I called the dealer and they were like "we're not sure it is a warranty repair" :pissed: Anyone have any ideas?

Mud tends to stop the radiator fan. Make sure that's still working. One time I 'parked' (read stuck) in a 30 inch deep mud puddle and it overheated repeatedly afterwards until I cleaned out the mud between the AC condenser and the radiator. You have to remove the 6 screw rivets holding the grill to the radiator bulkhead. Tilt your grill forward and you will then be able to spray a power washer down between the two radiators. You'd be surprised how much mud it will hold.

One more note on fan failure. If you're out in the boonies and your fan stops working from intimate contact with mud, try whacking the back of the fan motor with something solid. If you dent the housing or chip paint it may void the warranty but I've had to do that a few times to get it going last summer. Still OK now. I flushed it out with clean water while the fan was running after I got home.

Be careful around moving fan belts. They can break bones and rip fingers off.

got a call from the dealer today, the jeep has a lot of active trouble codes, including some major ones for high transmission temp. guess they want to keep it for a while till they can get that squared away. i knew when i found out these JK's didnt have a trans cooler, that would be a problem at some point. oh well... now i wait.
