Let's see if I can get in trouble on this forum:
This is probably a stupid question, but I have to ask... I have found a site 4WheelersSupply.com that builds Dana44 front axles specifically for the JK. They come with Superior axles and the locker (Auburn, Detroit, ARB, Ox) of your choice. Now I've been thinking of the Mopar Performance replacement with the ELocker, but by the time I put Superiors in it I'm at about the same price. Now here's the catch. The 4WhelersSupply one only comes main housing with you putting on your old outers -knuckles, rotors etc... Is there any chance the knuckles and rotors are the same on both the Dana 30 and the Dana 44?

There are two different part #'s:

DJR=Light Duty Front Axle
DJS=Heavy Duty Front Axle

I'm going to guess that Light Duty Front Axle is the 30, and the Heavy Duty is the 44.

I think they are about $140 a piece if you buy them online.

Ok here's my potential dumb question to contribute if you wanna say that.......I have an 08 JK that came with the towing package and 3.73 gears.....I was told that the rear axle is a Dana 44. So what is the front axle then? Is it also a Dana 44???? My plan was that if it was not then an axle swap was probably a priority. Anyone here purchase the MOPAR Dana 44 front axle package and do the swap? Is there a cheaper/better way??? I need some advice fellas.....

Unless you have a Rubicon, you will have a Dana 30 front, the Mopar Dana 44 will be a bolt in swap, you will just have to wire the locker, all the Knuckles and outers are the same. The Mopar 44 front is a good deal, I would get one. The only problem I have seen with a Mopar Dana 44 is it uses the same size tubes as the 30 which is only 2.5", when you put on some good shocks and can really take some hits with speed you can easily bend the front axle housing.
