I am not a big fan of Fox either. Most people buy shocks because of the way the look, not how they perform.
IF you want a good shock that is tunable and rebuildable and different check out sway-a-way. Actually built a little better than King and less cost. Profender is another you might check out.
Damn I took a look at those shocks you referred me to, wow you’re trying to murder me with pricing! Lol.

Dude your trying to break my bank…
Wow they better be the best in the class to pay 1,200 for only two. I can’t afford that. I’ll pay $1,200 for all four but not for two. Thanks though.

I got Fox 2.0s with my JKS kit and I have to say, they are worlds better than the Teraflexes that came with my Jeep. I have not gone off road yet (just got my Jeep back this week) but so far on road performance in Albuquerque, which doesn't deserve what they have to be called roads, has been great.
Dude I don’t know but fox 2.0 are going to have to be it. Or I fine another option from now till February.

I had a customer come in with the fox 2.0 last week and all 4 were leaking.
One thing I always find funny with every kind of automotive enthusiast site I've ever been on for the past 20 years is how people expect production lines to be magically free of defects 100% of the time. Sometimes something slips by QA, it happens. Especially with all the bullshit that's been going on since 2020. I'm not saying it's good or acceptable but I am saying be realistic.

I've got similar experience. When I bought RK in 2010, my "upgraded" 1/2 of my 2.0 Fox shocks leaked from day 1, a
Told the story at a group event, 2 others said the same, and they were happier with some rebranded procomps or RE, don't recall. I went with Bilsteins.
Thing is, thedirtman sells and fixes this stuff, so his sample pool is larger than ours. It's like when he said JL axles are over rated. He saw it, not just heard it over beers.

I've used Bilsteins before and they're great shocks. So far though my Foxes have been good but I'll have a fully formed opinion after I trail them. You guys do have me checking them every day though.

I don't expect that and recommend shocks that are servicable or buy cheap shocks if they are going to be a throw away. Typically you will have one on a rig that is leaking but I have never had all 4 come in on a jeep that is 99% a daily driver with some dirt trails once in a while. I don't know the age of the shocks but they were definitely not abused.

I'm on 40's and a dana 30. I have no issues. No stretched either. But I did comp cut the front and rear of my JKU. My dana 30 is also not stock admittedly. I just careful lines and if I can't get up it, I reverse and go home. Pride will kill a dana 30 before 40's will.
hey man that is awesome to know.
what suspension are you running. I have my site set on metal cloak but I am open for better opinion? What would you recommend. FYI… I really need all 8 control arms.

I scored a sweat deal on a set of used 40s and told myself that I can control my urge and drive carefully everything will be fine. I had to make an emergency stop driving home from work one day and the factory brakes arent good enough to keep up with 40s. I stopped in time but it was way too hairy of a stop. When we pulled off the tires from the Dana 44s (its a Rubi) all of the rear wheel studs were crooked. 40s were just too much weight.

In my experience, you cant run that big and heavy of a tire on a Dana 44/30 safely.

Dude I hear it all the time. Since I bought the jeep with them I am just waiting to burn these tires to the ground and buy light weight 37s and call it a day. Finally ready to buy the 3.5” metal cloak lift but I don’t know what shocks to get. I do have plans in the future to buy a small trailer so I want to buy shocks that may help me with the back end weight. But it won’t be for another year or so until I get the trailer.
So my biggest concern is better handling so I want some nice shocks to help with that.
I see fox shocks now am interested in falcons. But I don’t want to pass my budget of $1,000 on shocks but I feel as I may have to in order to get what is worth it and for my needs.

Shocks arent really going to help with that. Shocks dampen the movement of your suspension. They dont support the weight of the vehicle. Thats the role of the springs so you can add airbags inside the springs (there are several kits out there I believe) to account for the additional weight.

Your biggest concern is handling? Get brakes.
And axles. Or get 37's.

There is no reason to spend big money on shocks unless you are going to be tuning them and want something you can rebuild. If you are going to go with the metal cloak lift go with their rocksport shocks as they work, give you more travel then most other shocks, and are budget friendly. They do ride well when combined with the metal cloak coils. If you are spending more than $100 on a smoothie shock you are just throwing your money away. Falcons are a big waste of money, they were hot when they came out because of all the social media blitz but over time people have not been all that happy with them. IF you are looking at that kind of money you should be on coil overs or a true bypass shock. The little clicker knobs do little on the shocks performance and shock companies know people will buy whatever new gimmick they come up with.

Jeeps can't tow much and have a relitivly low tounge weight. With 37's-40" tires you should be towing even less weight because you won't have the braking power to stop. If you are towing move the spare tire and other weight you carry in the rear to the trailer and you wont see much difference in ride height or you could run a coil spacer or longer coil on the rear of the jeep.

Thank you man, this is what I’ve been trying to hear from someone. I have own trucks all my life so me going into a Jeep is a bit hard for me because I am used of doing side jobs on weekends or more than anything doing home projects so me not having a place to put lumber or even shovels or debris is killing me about this Jeep. I know there’s the Gladiator but honestly I am not a fan of a small truck. I’ve own F150, F250 and a 1500 Hemi. I own a trailer right now but I feel it May be too heavy for theJeep.Trailer is a 6x12 dual axle trailer with 4foot metal high walls with lumber floors, looks similar to a dump trailer. I think it probably weights about 3000-3500 pounds.
What are your thoughts on that?

as long as you didn't put anything in the trailer you would be fine as that is about the towing capacity of the Jk. Stock 4 door is 3500 pounds. The bigger tires and lift actully will reduce the towing capacity. Braking is the biggest issue but other things make the jeep a poor towing vehicle.

Thank you brother!
well there you go people. My truck has been officially sold and now my trailer will be for sale soon.
Now let’s get to buying the metal cloak 3.5 lift kit.
Should I pay someone to install it or should I just do it myself. I am a handy man fyi
