Hey guys, quick question on D-rings. When you order a d-ring, say a 3/4", will it have 3/4 cast into the d-ring itself? Reason I ask is, I ordered the Warn D-ring with reciever mount from DesertRat.com, and all I received was the D-ring itself, and then my packing list said that they actually subbed the BullDog one for it, which is cheaper, but then they still charged me the price of the Warn unit. I called them and he said they don't carry the Warn unit anymore, so thats why I was subbed the Bulldog unit. Ok, thats fine, but I didn't recieve the mount with it. Anyways, while I was on the phone with them, I noticed the D-ring they did send me has 7/8 cast into it. Is this gonna be the wrong size for the mount they are sending me? I hope they are sending me the whole unit again, but I don't know for sure.

How nice of them to give you a cheaper product for the higher price! Although it sounds like it's a beefier piece. I cannot be sure, but I think you might be in trouble. I'd confirm it with them. You'll have a record of the conversation when things go wrong if nothing else.

No, both units ( Warn and Bulldog) come with a 3/4" D-ring. All I recieved was a D-ring, and it has 7/8 cast into it. I'm pretty sure they are sending me the mount and another D-ring and just letting me keep the D-ring they sent me the first time. I'm just concerned that if they do only send me the reciever mount itself, that this one I have now wont fit. And they did credit me back the $5 difference.

A 3/4" shackle will usually have a 7/8" pin, maybe that is what the 7/8" is referring to, although I doubt it. Either way just measure the diameter of the shackle and you'll know what size it is. A 7/8" shackle will usually have a 1" pin.

The shackle size and WLL are usually stamped or cast on to the shackle.

While on the subject it is worth noting that not all shackles are created equal. Most are just plain steel, but some are alloy steel, and this effects the WLL. For example:

Steel 3/4" shackle = 4.75 T WLL
Alloy Steel 3/4" Shackle = 7 T WLL

It was the wrong shackle. They sent me just the mount, and the shackle I recieved earlier was to big, the pin wouldn't fit. So apparently they just sent me the completely wrong item to begin with.

yup, 3/4" shackle usually has a 7/8" pin.

5/8" shackle usually has a 3/4" pin
