If I had a JK I'd chop that too, which is one of the reasons it is bolt on, not everyone will be willing to cut it up but it's an option for those who do. The JK 4door build up in this months 4 wheel drive & Sport Utility opted for this with our stubby.but if you wanted to remove the bar you probably don't have the disconnect motor so there would be no reason to use the skid anyway...
I actually removed the bar on my X model so I didn't have to have the skid on my Shrockworks bumper any longer
