Planning on turning my mostly stock (other than power and safety mods) JKUR into a 500+ rwhp Hot Rod just because can be done and it's fun for me.

I was initially thinking a low mileage LT4 with 8L90E through MoTech, but I know that would likely be $35k-$50k to start.

Recently started thinking of doing an LS3 430 bhp crate motor (possibly with internal mods for forced induction) with 6L80E, maybe a Whipple with Water-Methanol Injection (WMI) also through MoTech, or maybe with their Gen IV kit.

Possibly a 6.4 liter Hemi with forced induction/WMI and 545FRE, or even a Hellcat powertrain (probably way to expensive even as a wreck take-out).

I want to stay below $29k maximum, have a relatively durable rig that can last 150k with the mods. Keep in mind stock wheels, no lift, no offloading, really just a "quick brick" sleeper. Really hope to leave my axles and 4.10 gearing as is.

What do you guys think?

Good question, apparently it does with the Dakota Customs Hellcat swap, guess I would just see what breaks. I am thinking that having 32" wheels will help along with not getting on it cold.

Speed's just a question of money. How fast you wanna go?
"Fast" I don't care about so much; not trying to make a land-speed record. Quick on the other hand, I do care about. 0-60 in 5 seconds or less would be ideal for less than $29k.

My current setup is around a 7 second 0-60 time.

Hoping to get some powertrain recommendations from those of you have done V-8 swaps and happen to know what kind of rwhp/rwt and 0-60 times your rigs put down?

I have no idea what my 0-60 times are but it's quick as hell and scares the shit out of people. Traction is mostly the issue. With 4.56 gears and 37x13.50R20s, I can't keep the tires planted...mind you I have a JK-8 so little weight over the rear axle. My set up (6.0, 6L80E, headers, 3" single exhaust, and tuned) puts down 326hp/358tq at the rear wheels again with 37s. If I was going to do it again, I would likely install a Gen V LS3.

With your budget of $29k you should be able to install a beast of an engine/trans with money left over. Are you doing the work yourself? Have you seen @MoTech's latest LT1? Also look at @Dkjeep's build. It's badass. BTW, you will make $1000 selling your Rubicon T/C and buying a sport.

Unless you go with the 8L80E to get the double overdrive, you might not like the 4.10s with 32" tires. Again, traction will be the issue with 4:1 first gear and gobs of low end torque.

Hemi has an amazing sound and produces a lot of power however, the 545 is just OK. The 6L80E is better geared, stronger, and easily to tune to what you want it to do.

Quick: get light half doors, pull back seats, run topless, lighter rims, no spare, 5.38's and nitrous.
Fast and reliable: call Motech.

Pretty impressive torque and power for a 6.0 with big ass wheels! Thanks for posting your specs.

Have been watching MoTech closely and have been in contact with Robbi. Would rather get it done turnkey, however new Gen IV LS3 with 6L80E, Whipple Twin-Screw SuperCharger, MoTech Gen IV Premium Builder's Kit would probably cost right at $25k for me to do the work. MoTech would cost way more, remember this is 500+ rwhp, not 400 rwhp.

Saw that MoTech LT1, which is sweet, however, will not put down 500 rwhp without forced induction.

MoTech advertised pricing starts at: Gen V L86 swap is about $25k Gen IV LS3 crate engine swap is about $20k (maybe could go this route and figure out the forced induction, WMI, and tuning myself for another $9k)

Robbi quoted $35k-$50k+ to start for an LT4 turnkey swap. Pretty sure that the LT4/8L90E would get me where I want to be and then some with 650 bhp (at the crank), however, I can't afford that unless I find a smoking deal and do it myself.

I want to stick with my bone stock look and still be able to use the JKUR as an SUV. Pretty focused on an engine swap, unless I can figure out some crazy internal engine work for my Pentastar with twin-turbo WMI setup that will get me 500+ rwhp.

Do a 6.0 swap yourself (robbie has the motech module down to a couple tie points) then toss a proven super charger on it. There are some vids and stuff on the interwebs showing rwh over 500. That's enough to be quick.

500+ rwhp is more the number I think I need to be at to stop messing' with it, at least for awhile! That damn Tesla Model S ruined me, 0-60 in 4.2 seconds, all the grip, all the torque, JKUR feels slow as one might expect. I just can't stop messing' with it. 500+ rwhp would obviously be peak, I really like the feel of 400 rwhp/rwt 'ish down low at 3000 rpm or so in an SUV.

Do you guys think that the 6.0 internals are strong enough in OEM form? I believe that the crank is cast nodular steel, not sure about the rods? I could definitely afford to pay MoTech to install the 6.0/6L80E at around $15k, and maybe even the forced induction/WMI/tuning install if I furnish the parts? I was under the impression that the LS3 was built more for hot-rodding, but I will research the 6.0 as directed.

Ls3 is moar. 6.0 is cheaper but might be ok for you.

Any gen 4 ls is leaving upwards of 250hp safely on the table to be tapped into as far as internals. The 6.0 especially as it is iron block and I believe 6 bolt mains.

Rpm extreme did a jku with blown ls that was making some crazy rwhp. It had an IFS rear end but otherwise looked stock.
