Looks like the heater hose going from the metal tube above the passenger valve cover to the oil cooler has sprung a leak.

The blower, intercooler and lower manifold have to come off again. Damn! This will be the second time I have pulled the blower and IC. First time was a voluntary inspection with ~25k miles on the blower.

The job is still a little involved on a stock motor because you have to pull both manifolds.

I guess my life doesn't suck as bad as yours does today.

There is no way to replace it without all that other stuff coming off?

It's the hose going to the oil cooler under the manifolds. You need to pull the manifolds to get to the oil cooler end of the hose. Edelbrock has you replace the spring clamp with a band clamp durring the blower install.

There is a sensor on the oil cooler that is in the way and needs to be removed to get to the hose clamp. I don't remember if I just pulled the connector or removed it altogether the first time around.

For reference, I found this footage that i shot back when I first installed the blower. You need to tear down all the way to the heads in order to get to this. Stock manifolds or blower.

The oil cooler is the aluminum look block between cylinders 4 & 5. The clamp for it is below that sensor you see.

It's actually a short rubber hose and the other end is easy to get to, located above the passenger side valve cover.

Gates makes a line of heat shrink clamps with supposedly better clamping performance.
Interesting. I just recently saw heat shrink solder splices using low temp solder tubes.

I'll have to check that out. Not sure of it's the clamp or the hose yet. Hard to see with the blower still on there.

Here's a video of their product. I bought a bunch for my engine swap, but haven't gotten to the point of using them yet. I guess you just have to be careful and avoid cooking any surrounding parts. Good luck!

thanks again. This particular clamp is in a tight spot and I don't think I would be able to get a heat gun in there to shrink half of the clamp. It also looks like it would be a tight fit trying to get the clap removal tool down in there too.

Actually, it turned out to be a leaky heater hose going to the firewall, not the hose going to the oil cooler so I won't need to tear it all the way down but I still might have to pull just the blower just to get the hose clamp off at the firewall. Not sure about a stock manifold.

It turns out that the driver's side heater hose rubs on the edge of the stamped gear cover at the back of the blower. It finally rubbed all the way through and sprung a leak. I'll post pics in my Edelbrock blower thread.

Some notes for anyone else that needs to replace heater hoses on a 3.6....

Mopar only sells the heater hoses as a pair but Gates offers them independently.

Part numbers:
GATES 12096 (passenger side heater hose)
GATES 12097 (passenger side heater hose) <- this is the one that touches the Edelbrock blower.

Mopar (both heater hoses): 55111446AC
