Sorry if this is a repost, I did search a little for it but I don't trust that custom search bar thing. If it is mods feel free to delete.

As the title says though, they'll likely make it an option for the late production 2015 to increase sales of the JK's final production year then make it an option for the 2016's. I don't know about you but I'm already saving up for it.

I wonder which diesel engine they will use. If they use the inline 6 that's in my dad's 2500 this thing will be a monster i doubt they will use that though. I'm not even sure what they are putting in the new Ram's as far as size.
read the article and you won't have to wonder.

Too much money for a Wrangler. An Unlimited Rubi will be $50k plus.

I read the article. Torque looks great but the mpg isn't high enough to tempt me.
I'd rather work on a project wrangler and drop a small american made diesel in.

target torque could be 325.. 165 diesel hp would be fine. that would be a 2.3L Cummins Turbo Diesel

Also for the premium Jeep/Fiat is charging for the diesel engine... a home conversion to the wrangler I am driving now would be cheaper... and if I do that I will go with a Hemi.
The price of diesel isn't cheap. Heating fuel is cheap :) .. but I'm not going to be risk getting pulled over.

That article was posted in March, and I haven't heard that buzz anywhere else. I'll believe it when I see it on the dealer lot. And then I won't be able to afford it.
ditto.

I just saw an article that was posted a couple days ago about this, but I don't remember where.

they sure as shit won't be using a big Cummins in a Wrangler. Too big and heavy, too "diesely" and too inefficent. It makes the most sense to continue using the 3.0 they're putting in the Ram and Grand. For some reason I think they might de-tune it to under 400 ft/lbs.

The diesel proposition is getting progressively harder to make a case for. The powertrain cost is so expensive in some cases it's laughable, the fuel now costs more than premium in most cases, and with the soot emissions requirements the mileage advangage is no longer as attractive. Virtually no way to recoup the cost of the powertrain as in the past. So, the only other reason to get one is torque, and with small displacement engines even that isn't really much of an advantage. Add the cost of maintenance, forget it.
