Does the chassis of the CB Radio need to be grounded? I have mine mounted on the side of the center console, which is plastic, do I need to run a ground wire from the radio chassis to the jeep chassis?
In most applications you shouldn't NEED to ground the body of the CB Radio but in SOME applications it may be necessary. Basically, I've only seen "grounding the radio body" recommended when severe noise interference is being experienced. It's usually recommended as a way to eliminate any grounding problems you may be experiencing.
Will it damage anything if you choose to ground the radio body? It shouldn't and I've never read/seen a situation where it did. It's just an extra step that may or may not be necessary given your particular situation.
