i know theres like 100 thread about this but i cant seem to find what im looking for, do you guys have any good mounting locations that are not on the tailgate. i cleaned up the tailgate moved the spare inside took off the cb antenna but now i need a new location for it. has anyone mounted it to the stock rear bumper somehow. maybe drill a hole in it. just not sure how strong that would be. let me know if you have any clever ideas. thanks.

I've seen them mounted right on the rear license plate holder. Looks like a pretty clean install if done right.

only problem is that i ordered the psc tramp stamp and the license plate will be moves to the tailgate and that holder wont be there anymore.

You could mount it to the drivers side front fender panel in a radio antenna mount to match the passenger side radio antenna. I have seen it done and look good.

I think you could mount it to the stock rear bumper. I would just put a metal plate on the top and bottom of the plastic for strength.

front bumper? That's where I'm thinking about moving mine. Hopefully it will increase my signal strength by not being blocked so much.

Front fender mount will give you a better ground plane.

I'm thinking ill temp mount it on the rear bumper and then when I get my new bumper for christmas ill drill a hole and mount it there

I saw someone make a plate to cover the license plate hole and it had a 1/4" tab welded on for the antenna. I may try that if I move my antenna from the rear tire carrier.

That's a good idea. I was planning on doing some body work in the spring time and filling in all those holes anyway so maybe I can make that work our real nice. For now I just bouth that plastic filler to put there.

I have the plastic cover as well, but then I put a "Just take it out and play with it" sticker over it. I hope FKlein is not following me again on a trail...
