Broken Linkage!

So Sunday afternoon my 4x4 linkage broke. Me and a couple buddies were going to the creek, and everything was going good, until the linkage broke. We were driving down a dirt road, and then it turned into a MUDDY road. I put my jeep in 4 lo, and everything was good, I went to put it back in 2 wd, and my shifter was just flimsy. I didn't know what it was at first, and then I realized the linkage broke. Why did Jeep skimp on the 4 wd, and put a plastic piece that would break. Anyone else have this problem?

I had the exact same problem, dealer replaced the whole cable ass'y under warranty, just a PITA havin to take it in to have them fix it! I've heard of several others with the same problem. It seems that you need to be rolling, around 5-10mph, throw transmission into neutral and be very genitle when coming out of 4 lo... pretty cheesy but thats just the way it is.
Does this normally happen from placing too much force on the T-case shifter when shifting or this just happen on its own?

P/N is in the thread and easier then pulling the Jeep out of service.

IMO, it happens from putting to much force.
