Hi

This is my first post and I am new jeep guy so please take it easy on me. I have a 2012 jku sport with stock 16" wheels. I love my jeep but I hate all of the open space in the wheel well and I would love to get bigger/beefier tires to fill in the space. Can I do that and keep the stock wheels? Will it look dumb? I don't want to have to lift it or do any modifications to it like cutting fenders and/or bumper.

I have a few other questions too... if you don't mind, any help I can get would be great.

What are spacers? Are they something you install yourself? Is it hard?
What do all of the numbers mean when you look at tires?

thanks everyone

Tire size

Generally you can go up a size from stock with out an issue. If you go larger (two sizes or more) then you might need spacers.... these provide 1.5" or more of back space to the stock wheel... i.e. it pushes the wheel further out from the brake assy and frame, this allows the front wheels to turn without rubbing the frame.
Lots of pic here and on the internet give you an idea of what looks ok.
