The #2 cat on my drivers side is glowing red. Could a clogged cat cause sputtering and misfiring? Jeep is running really rough.

Cut the cat out and there was nothing in it. Completely empty. Found 2 small pieces of the "honeycomb" in the muffler, but blowing a leaf blower through it there doesn't seem to be much restriction. So not sure where the rest of it went?

The cat Glowing red is the point where the internal temp got hot enough to start causing the catalyst to start melting and breaking down. As it started to melt I am sure it started to come apart. I am willing to bet if it started to come apart and put resistance into the exhaust system it ended up getting pushed through the exhaust and out the tail pipe onto the street. If you were driving anywhere with any amount of RPMs being turned it most likely shot out pretty good. Seen it happen a good number of times especially on race tracks that are requiring emission tests on cars and requiring cats to be run. fuel curve a lil too rich and it dumps the guts of the cat real quick.
