Hey Guys
i just made a few run to my local dumb to toss a couch( it took three trips , i had to cut this sucker in half ) . when i was leaving for the last time the guys at the scale gave me my ticket. the jeep with a 1/4 tank of fuel the jeep weighted 4820. its a 2008 JKU auto hard top and full doors with a 4 inch lift shitybilt front bumper and 35 nitto m/t's and no spare tire. i had a feeling the jeep was heavy bit not close to 5000 lbs.

we had just got back from a nice christmas vacation in Breckenridge CO. the jeep was not happy climbing up the mountains , a lot of second gear screaming (3.73 gears and 35") . once we were at our cabin (11,000 ft) the jeep was all but gut less. i know it was the elevation because it kicked my ass too. but man i wish i had a blower or a V8. anyways if you've weighted your jeep what did it weigh in at?

Only weight ticket I have for mine included my M101A2 trailer in tow, but based on what I know about it, I'd say yours is right on the money. It's not hard at all to approach 6k on an unlimited armored up.

7.73 gears?
I'm guessing that's 3.73 gears

I'm a 2dr and at #4640 , full tank , 37'' V-8 and armor .

So where your at is not too bad really , I've seen weight tickets at nearly #6000 on 4dr's .

5640 pounds with LC9 5.3/6L80, winch, bumpers, dynatrac 44 front, mostly rock krawler arms, misc track bars and linkage, 5 each 112 pound 37" tires, skids, genright rocker armor, hydro assist, spare, extra fluids, lighter hood (Totl innovations) and basic tools.
That was with 220 pounds of me.
To get lighter, I swapped the abraided wire rope for synthetic, driver lost 15 lbs and bought a California soft top not yet installed. (-100 after install)?
Other options:
Remove Nth degree rear diff skid, (-50)?
Swap control arms for aluminum,
Swap rocker for aluminium, maybe (-50)?
Swap bumpers for aluminum, maybe (-100)?
1/2 doors c/w uppers. (-180)
Park the spare in back yard and trust in plugs and viair. (-112)
So with enough money, I could lose 500 to 650 lbs. Question is does that add enough value to notice on joints/breaky parts, economy and offroad ability to be worth doing?

My 2 door was almost exactly 4600 w/35"s, stock wheels w/spacers, an OR-FAB rack w/Jerrycans, and all the tools, straps, shackles,hi-lift, ARB compressor, and a 12,000 lb Superwinch.

Just removed the rack, jerrycans, rear bumper, and added a VKSFab's bumper, rockers, 37" bias ply Trepadors, and different wheels without spacers. Hope to re-weigh it tomorrow...

2010 JKU sport 6spd. 4.88 and 35's (no comfort features)
no backseats, no rear bumper, soft doors, chopped front bumper, no muffler. only sprung weight i've added would be skids

maybe removing the front sway bar. hopefully it's under 5K

Other than leather and heated seats my Jeep is loaded...hard top, Rubicon. Anyone have a similarly built, not so optioned two door? I'm curious how much all this fluff weighs?

Starting to think V8s aren't overkill...
I have a new crewcab half ton 2wd Ram and it is still pretty spirited with a Hemi/6 speed. Close to the same weight but less rotating mass. Hmmm...

It would be nice to have the V8 eco mode since it is basically a 4 cylinder under light load.

i wish i had 4:10 . when i was looking at JK's i drove a few with 3:21's and it was so bad i stopped the test drive and almost bought a raptor. the 3:73's aren't too bad .

i was leaning toward 5:13's for my next upgrade . i most likely still will but i will try to put the jeep on a diet too.
