auto climate conversion

I have a 2013 JK and I'm wondering what it would take to convert to auto climate control...

If the JK is anything like other makes/models, it will take a lot of work and wiring. There are lot of sensors/motors for ACC that regular climate control doesn't need.
Curious as to the motivation? Cool factor? Some benefit?
I believe it's all the matter of replacing the current AC/Heating controls and a dealer program.

If I'm wrong, someone can correct me...

JK's aren't luxury vehicles, so you may be barking up the wrong tree if you want a cheap slick advanced auto climate control system.

With the way the Jeep pumps out heat, I could see the benefit of ACC.

What if you used some slick home thermostat in the circuit? You would have to adjust the Hot/Med/Cold yourself, but it could certainly maintain the temperature.

I've heard this as well, I was just wondering if someone had done it.

I would rather set it and forget it. It gets annoying adjusting often
I find it hard to believe that Jeeps not equipped with ACC still have all the temp sensors and motors installed to regulate and keep a temperature constant. I suppose I could be wrong about that but it wouldnt make sense to put those parts in every jeep, unless it was somehow cheaper to install them in every jeep vs the cost of the parts.

What gets annoying is the ACC never being right! Unfortunately, when it senses that the correct temp has been reached, it starts throttling back the fan speed, not just the temp. Not always the best thing. Sometimes you just want the air circulating at the same speed, even though the temp is adjusted warmer or cooler (depending on season). Sometimes, some passengers are in sun while others are in shade. Air circulation can help those in sun without freezing those in shade.

IMO, the auto temp was a waste of $150ish that the dealer slipped into my order and by the time I noticed it, I thought it wasn't worth quibbling over. But if I had to do it again, I'd order the manual only unit, and I'd go to the trouble to refuse the auto one.

Unless all the sensors, thermostats, etc. are contained in the Auto Temp control head itself. Don't know this to be true; just sayin'.

While waiting for my Jeep, I had read a thread where it was a fairly simple upgrade to perform. I can't remember where I read it, but it was on one of the popular Jeep forums. As to wanting the auto climate control? I did, got it with the Jeep, would prefer old school controls to be honest. This is one of those items that seems more desirable than it actually is... In my humble opinion...
