I have 2008 JK 2-door Sahara, 6 speed manual transmission, 3.8 liter (50K miles), 3.73 gears. I put a 4" 8 arm TeraFlex lift with a heavier trackbar, tie rod and draglink. I'll be mounting my new 18 x 9 aluminum and 35" Nitto M/Ts in the next couple of days and don't plan to go any larger (spent enough on these guys). I've added more weight with a new rear AEV bumper and tire carrier and an AEV front premium bumper and 10K winch. 80 to 90 percent of use will be high driving (I have TJ that gets dirty). I live in Northwest Florida, so it's mostly trail, sand, mudding or highway driving. I want to stick close to factory or maybe a little more power to get up our little highway/ interstate hills. So, 4.11, 4.56, 4.88, or 5.13? Any experienced gear changers care to share their wisdom? Thx Doug :beer:

That's what I'm leaning towards but got side tracked reading all the posts about the different ratios - what's a good brand?

I just made a thread like this a few weeks ago. You'll get recommendations on every single brand.
I'm leaning towards Yukon as well.

How much Highways do you do? if its not much 4.88s otherwise dial it down a bit if you do a decent amount of highways. Especially since you have a TJ thats the dirty one already.

So, I put the new tires and rims on the Jeep. The Jeep definitely feels different, so I'm going to change the gears. Like I said, I'm running 3.73 and I think I'll go with 4.56. I looked at the tables and did the math: 34 x 3.73 / 31 = 4.09 and 35 x 3.73 / 31 = 4.21. I think two gear sizes will be worth the absorbinate amount of cash my local installer wants. They like to offer Nitro and Yukon. I left the quotes at work, but I think the Yukon gears and kit was about $900 and the Nitro was $750 or near $800. Labor is another $900. I need to do some reading, but I'm told he has experienced more issues setting up the Yukons since they changed their warranty policy. He also mentioned Nitros tend to be easier to line up.

Like I said. I miss quoted the cost and price. Yukon gears and parts = $1158 and Nitro gears and parts = $895 + $900 in labor.
