After five years my Jeep is finally due for its first inspection. The tread on my tires stick out slightly beyond the fenders. Are the high-rise inspection sites picky these days about tires sticking out? How about requiring mud guards all around?

I have a four door JK with 37" tires and 4.5" lift. With 30PSI they actually measure closer to 35". Anyways they stick out slightly. In 2001 I had my lifted TJ inspected (4.5" lift and 33" tires) and they got me on no mud guards all around.

I have to get it inspected this month. Anybody has recent experience with this?

U also are probably eligible for a one year extension. Dmv by the mall just had me pull up out back and threw on a new sticker on my wifes 08. Could have/should have just mailed it with the registration renewal-dumb ass state:beer:

Is this thing on?

He's talking about the high rise inspections. Not the normal DMV ones. I believe they still do. Haven't gone through one yet myself, but I'm pretty sure they'll fail you for that. My friend had to make some DIY fenders just to pass it, then took em off afterwards.

Don't go through high rise unless your stopped by pd or at check point. Go through standard inspection. They can not fail you. Most cops and check points don't bother you

Also on Monday ill post full regs for high rise inspections. And see if I can get it made a sticky. I have my access code for state regs and can pull it through there.

I posted regulations. youll see why nobody really goes anymore. pain in the ass. Most cops will leave you alone about tires sticking out.

Never got pulled over for tires sticking out, don't think its an issue. Then again didn't think I would get pulled over for no front tag either, alas guess Cherry Hill PD wasn't too busy that day.
