Anyone have info on the BFG KM3 in a 39x13.50x17 size? Seems like they are listed but not actually available (yet?).

Also interested in just general feedback on this tire.

Thanks

4wd is offering $100 off a set of 4 with free shipping. I think Nate can get a better price, I will check with him as he is a dealer and buys quite a few tires.
Yeah, that's a better deal than the other place, even with the sales tax.

edit: The other place is telling me that they are the only dealer in the country with these tires in stock and that BFG is calling THEM to get tires for other dealers.

I've been running the KO2's for over 2.5 years now. Basically 3 wheeling seasons. Probably the best performing and best looking AT available to run for my hybrid overlanding/crawler setup.

The KM3 uses the same tech. And this tire isn't something you're just going to see on a handful of rigs like the BFG Krawlers. From my research, Raptor owners are swapping over, Toyota owners are swapping over, and Wrangler owners like myself are swapping over from the KO2's into these. You have a large overlanding market looking for additional beef

This current stock of 39s for those who can run them won't last long in my opinion and I'm not waiting what could be June/July for another opportunity. Also not playing the waiting game with big box retailers wondering if my order is going to get filled or not. Been there, done that. I don't mind paying the premium on something I know will be here at the end of the week from a main supplier who apparently has ~50% of the current stock available for the KM3 39s...

If you can score a deal, more power to you. I ain't hatin'. I just ain't waitin'

Please post up the actual height these are once you get them mounted. It would be sweet if they measured close to 39"

Like typical BFG fashion where they all run smaller, aside from the Krawler Blue and Red Labels that actually run true to size, the 39" KM3s are spec'd in at:

KM3 in a 39 = 87.92lbs @ 38.5" width 13.5 -- I paid $2250 for 5

I'm actually fine though with the smaller size as I was looking for something in the 38 range and the only 2 tires that seem to be out there are the KM3s and the Patagonias.

Only problem I saw with the Patagonias is that they are only a 6 ply tire and they are nowhere close to good looking as the sidewalls are really ugly. They are made in Taiwan apparently which is fine by me considering Taiwan is like the "Texas" of Asia but just don't have the strength and good looks I'm looking for.

I'm also running 8" wide wheels so there will be some "plump" going on especially since I run ~28 psi. That will affect overall height...

I'll get them mounted as soon as I can. It might be a couple of weeks though. I need to chase down this overheat issue going on first (hopefully just need to burp the cooling) then need to get the big balls steering box in. Then I'll see what adjustments I need to make to run the 38.5"....

They wanted to get a set for me on the same pallet out here to cali.

I'm gonna roll the dice and wait until January. It's not like Nitto 40's suck.

Yeah you'll be good either way. Nitto is a good tire and hopefully there's still stock for you on the KM3 even at the end of January.

At least your wallet will get a little breather here in the meantime lol

HA! They just called me back again with lower shipping.

I told them I'd buy a set if they give me a significantly lower price than you got.

Based off that review you posted, I'm going to say the 39" KM3's will be no more than 37" tall mounted. Hope I'm wrong.......

Here are a few pictures of my old TJ with 3 different sets of tires on it. All mounted on the same 10" wheels.

First set: 35x12.50 BFG Mud Terrain KM2..... They were barely 33" tall at street pressure. Fuck those tires! I sold them for a loss just to get those turds out of my life.

Second set: 35x13.50 BFG Blue Label Krawlers. These measured a true 35" tall at 28psi, wear great on the road and hook up in the rocks decently. Sold them to go 37's.

Third set: 37x12.50 PBR Radials. These tires were like glue on rocks, and my favorite of the 3 sets offroad, but wore a little to quick on the road for daily use.

I would not buy a set of 39" KM3's until I saw them mounted on a rig and could get a real measurement. IMO, let someone else find out they run small.

They will definitely run small but I knew that going in. I'm already running smallish KO2's that were 36.5" but like I said, I've been running this same set for the last 2.5 years and there is still a decent amount of tread left. They have at least 45,000 miles on them and they've also conquered the Rubicon 3 times with no issues. The sidewall simply kicks ass.

I agree on the older version KM2 as I've seen the sidewalls get punctured and I've also ran them in 35s which is why I didn't even consider them when sizing up to 37s.

The 39 KM3s could even run down to an even 38 or 37.5 which I'm still fine with because there is still no other tire around in this range other than the Patagonias. You can make the case for the Goodyear MT/Rs but I personally think those are some of the worse tires out there and those are only available in a 14.5 width. You may as well run some real 40s at that point.

If I can drop these straight in without having to add a ton of bumpstop, adjust ride height on coilovers, swap out rear springs, and/or do extra trimming, plus possibly dick around with re-adjusting my control arms if I do have to add extra lift, then I'm perfectly fine with the small 39. The less work I gotta do, the better.

These are KM3 37s on a shitty 3.5" Starwood lift...

If I have 2 more inches of beef than this JL setup, I'll be good to go...
