Any Sig fans out there?

I am thinking about selling my HK USP 45 and getting a Sig P220 Elite. Anyone have any good or bad experiences with the Sig? I know the mag capacity is less, but the Sig has fewer problems jamming, even with cheap ammo. I also like that you can attach a Crimson Trace laser, a tactical light and that the grip is bobtailed.

Front sight focus!!! Do not shoot with a laser,
X2 Laser sights have their place, but I find them to be gimmicky on defensive weapons.
No offence taken or dickery detected.

I have found I can put lead where I want it a little quicker with the laser since the eyes are not what they used to be. I am by no means dependant on it and shoot just fine without a laser. I have had a Crimson Trace on my Beretta for the past 6 years and have not had any problems. I train both with and without the laser because I believe that if something is going to malfunction, it will probably do it when you need it most. Lasers are no good in daylight, either. I think that a lot of people that do not shoot well think that a laser will magically improve their shooting. Not true. If your technique sucks, a laser makes no difference.
You are right about the laser showing where you are in certain settings. Thats where the training comes in and you have to weigh the advantages and disadvantages of using the laser. Or a flashlight, for that matter. At least with a flashlight, you can blind the bad guy.

That's great to hear, sounds like you have a good balance going there between the two aiming options. I couldn't agree with you more about the people that lack the skills. I've seen people throw more money at doo-dads promising to increase the skill than I care to remember. All they do is decrease wallet size. If only that money was spent on professional training and diligent practice:shaking:

Roger that on the Surefire light in the face!!!!

Be careful out there....
Will do! I am more in the training/mentor mode after 18 1/2 years. I go out in the field once a week, usually with a trainee or on my own. The rest of the time, I am the watch deputy.
I love my Glock, the only safety I need is in my head!!!

Glock...the thinking man's gun
no.... get a glock
I wouldnt say that!!!! The glock is great, but so is the sig! I will be getting a sig very soon.
no.... get a glock
I have/carry both and umm no.
if I had to choose, my sig would win.
not that I don't like my glock, I just like the sig better:grinpimp::mr-t:
I have a Sig P220 stainless and absutively posilutely love everything about it for my home gun. The only problem with it is that it's a bit much to carry concealed on your person.

But it is an awesome handgun.
I keep my G21 in the Jeep. 14rds of .45 is hard to beat. It is too big to carry concealed though. At least in the summer.
I recently bought a Sig P6- it's the German police version of the P225. Single stack, fairly compact, super accurate, and seems to be reliable. Put about 400 rounds through it so far, not one malfunction. Best part- $250.00! I'm a die hard 1911 guy, but I'm liking this little Sig.

Bingo, that's what your looking for in any handgun, Sig's a great handgun...
Love my SIG P250...as good as a GLOCK...oh wait better:thefinger:....HA just kidding I've owned both, but I carry the SIG cause I'm a lefty and the SIG is a easy conversion!

...no safety but my finger, the only way to go!

Can the P229 be converted to ambi controls? I'm left eye dominant and right handed, so I've trained myself to shoot lefty. I actually shoot much better left handed, but enjoy switching hands for practice.

My wife and I both really like shooting the rental P229 at the range, but I'm not sure about lefty or ambi controls.

I have no problem hitting the mag release with my trigger finger on my left hand or my right thumb. The slide release would be nice though to have on both sides though.
