Another Dishpan Springs, Devils Hole, 2N33, and 2N17X 9/1/08

SoCalRubi and I ran Big Bear today and as the title says we made our way from Green Valley Lake rd to Silverwood lake.

I took a different line on the main obstacle on Dish Pan that I thought would be easy and ended up stuck. My trans mount fell in to a crack and Richard couldn't pull me off so we had to use the hi-lift jack a couple times but it all went well. Real peaceful at Devils hole today. I found a rattlesnake in the crevice of a tree and I almost caught a garder snake that was busy eating a fish. We had intended to take 2N17X from Pilot Rock but we must have missed the turn by taking all the bypasses (the harder way) so we stayed on 2N33 that goes all around the backside of Silverwood Lake and we backtracked and did some of 2N17X. 2N33 was real scenic and we had never done it before so we didn't mind. Plus it has some challenging bypasses like Cleghorn. Tons of traffic coming home and when I turned onto my street I noticed that my headlights were dim so after I parked I tried to start it and it barely turned over. Just glad she got me home.

BG, did you end up going taking the same line as Sat. at Dishpan? or muscling your way through the other line?

We were going the same direction as we did sat. fyi. And I thought going around by the tree would be easier but I almost flopped it there too and I couldn't back up so I pulled forward on the big rocks so I could back up and that's when I got hung up.

It's cool. I just picked one up with a lifetime warranty for 120$

That really really sucks about the axle. How did you figure that out?

Did you take the wheels off and run it and saw a wobble?
Man I feel really bad about that. Is the housing bent or just the shaft?
If you bent an axle with stock wheels and tires how much easier would it bend with a much larger set up?

Yeah I was pretty stuck. The whole weight of the vehicle was on the trans mount which was in a deep crack. My front tires were in the air. Richard was pulling hard with good traction and still nothing. Even getting a run at it and jerking me hard didn't do it.

Then off to pilot Rock...

Me Chu Chu and Billy stayed on the ground.

Then Billy let Richard lead...and we got lost....
