14 wrangler sport that has a super annoying rattle/clunk (best way I can describe the noise). This only happens when I'm idling, and it doesn't happen all the time, but it is often enough for it to be a bother and it's noticeable enough for people to stare when I'm at a red light or what not...once i put it in park it stops. The hotter the day, the quicker the rattle begins. Yes I know its a jeep and it's bound to come with creaks and rattles, but this one is nagging at me. I've taken it to dealer and they couldn't find what was wrong with it. I was in a fender bender a couple years back...barely even scratched up my front bumper (gotta love that XRC). Any ideas?

Without a sound bite, it's all guesses. I suspect a bent muffler hanger or heat shield is loose. At idle they vibrate against something.

+2 I have the same issue with my flowmasters. give it a tiny bit of revs and it goes away atleast for me

Do you have a manual trans? I get the rattle noise also and after multiple trips to the dealer I finaly got an answer. They told me it's a bearing near the front of the transmission but theres nothing they can do to fix it

bearing near the front of the transmission? why wouldn't they be able to fix it? Did they mean a bushing?

Automatic...really they couldn't fix it?!? I took mine to 2 dealers and they couldn't figure it out..i've suspected it was either heat shield or bent muffler, especially since it all started after the fender bender.

No, they said it a bearing. They told me the first person that came in with the noise got a transmition replaced by jeep and the noise came back around a week later. After that person there not doing anything for it and are saying it's just a noise I have to live with. They said I could try a different dealer but there's woundn't cover it under warranty.
