Angry Headlights...

Gave the Jeep a little attitudinal adjustment today... Had some black vinyl laying around and figured since I was installing Silverstars I also had laying around for months that I might as well get this done too.

Got them stretched perfectly with no bubbles or wrinkles in the vinyl. I tested the lights for 5 minutes and the vinyl does get hot enough to not want to touch it. The vinyl should hold up fine, but I will keep an eye on things the first time they really get used.

I love the look so, if any issues with the vinyl I will find some tinted vinyl instead of black (which I may do anyways). Attached are iPhone pics with the lights on.

ADDED: As the Jeeps anger continued into the night... The only real light loss I see is about 10 feet out in front on the ground, filled in by the driving lights just fine. Distance projection seems fine, same crappy stock coverage.

The light pattern on the wall in front of the Jeep did not look all that changed from stock... Besides I run my front Driving Lights all the time so, no light issues for me.

As for Leo's, I have had full headlight covers on four past vehicles with no problems. What the Leo's DO LOVE in Florida though is illegal tint! Thats why I either don't have any or run the legal limit. Besides if I was to get pulled I can just peel of the vinyl right then to make the piggy happy. ;)

I have done that almost a year ago.
No problem with the cheapo vinyl I bought, even through rain, snow, hot, cold, etc.
Only "problem" is with high beams... The low beams light more than the high beams since the vinyl is in front of the higher part of the lights...
But I guess that's why we install 100+ watts off-road lights... :)
High beams should only be used when there is nobody around you (well, at least in front) so the off-road lights are just as appropriate...
(and I do have upgraded bulbs!)

Bought my Jeep with the angry eye bezels already installed. I noticed the same thing about the high beams being less efficient than the low beams. I have no idea if my headlamps are stock, but I know they are not those fancy led or other types. It looks to me like the eyelid kills the high beam, because it covers that part of the reflector. It s a bit of a pain. The lighting to the side is greater with the high beams, but the distance is crap.

I have the Smittybilt SRC front and rear bumpers... The lights are cheap 55 watt from auto store, i got them to hold me over until i can get some really nice lights.

I am running Silverstars in the headlights... I honestly never use my highbeams, the 55 watters on the bumper hit anything reflective waaayyyyy out in front. ANd I have really good night vision, that helps too! hehe

I had tinted tail lights on my Harley F-150 and they got used as an excuse to pull me over a couple of times
also when I moved from FL to TX, when I went to get inspected they showed me where it said there couldn't be any coating or object obscuring the lamp
don't remember chapter and verse but it was worded so that tint, either film or sprayed on was a no-no and failed me till I got new tails
That was just the tails, when I go get my inspection done here in a few days, I wonder if they'll say anything about my little vinyl skulls on my headlights

I have lived in FL for most all of my life, and have had too many cars... A bunch of them had smoked Head and Tail lights and i never once had an issue with it. In fact the my Truck i got rid of last year for my Jeep had smoked Headlights on it for almost 3 years...

Florida cops care more about Window Tint and loud music then anything... Neither of which I have. LoL

If you get pulled for smoked head lights in FL, you found a pissed of cop on the wrong day of the week that would have pulled you for anything stupid could make up anyways...

P.S. A friend of mine use to get out of every ticket imaginable, including doing 110mph in a 55mph zone! How??? Simple... He acted like a flaming, upset, recently dumped Gay man... Cops never wanted anything to do with that, especialy when he would start crying. I witnessed this little act once (along with two others) when he got pulled over leaving a bar for swerving, it was the funniest thing I ever saw! LoL

In FL they don't care. We have some of the most relaxed vehicle laws in the country. You don't need a hood, doors, panels for that matter, roof, fenders, bumpers, anything and you will pass (considering there are also no periodic vehicle inspections). I think the only law is you need a windshield and two rear facing mirrors... one of which allows you to see out the rear window. Oh and I guess functional headlights and taillights.
