Went out to do some testing of the AEV 4.5" suspension.

Yup, we took it to a road course this morning and put it through it's paces. (note: need a steering cooler, better pump, etc).



I liked the RK stuff. Hurt a bit to take it off. But that is the only way to fully test something else.

I have only had the AEV 4.5" for less than 24 hours. So no way I can give an opinion just yet. It needs to see some serious use first. The track was just the first step.

It is hard to get a good evaluation of that suspension. Every one on Jk-Forums is so anti against it and not a lot of people here have it on. The biggest concern seems to be that it won't do well in the rocks. Please keep us up to date with your thoughts on it.

The funny thing is that 95% of the driving that 99% of us do is on the road. Yet we build our Jeeps for the 5% use(then ***** that it is no fun to drive).

I think this will do fine in the rocks. I am hoping to get to Moab this weekend for some testing and more pics.

I am very interested in seeing some action shots. Much like you I am building my jeep for the street but I want a vehicle that is going to perform well in my 2 weekend a month wheeling trips.

I'll be interested in hearing how you like it after some time. I went with the Currie kit, but have the AEV rear trackbar tower and front High Steer. I'm already thinking about switching out to the AEV springs and shocks. I would pretty much have the AEV premium kit with Currie arms at that point.

It felt a bit strange to take off my RK arms and put stock ones back on.

Eventually after much testing I will experiment with different combos and see what happens.

So you went back to the stock arms and the cams? I'll be VERY interested in hearing if they loosen up and move like a lot of people say they do. I don't think I'll be putting my stock arms back on.

The only way to due a true review was to install the kit the way AEV intends. So I put the stock arms back on.

The cam bolts are the same that are used on TJs and Dodge trucks. I got 160K on my TJ with no real issues with them. I had them comming lose for awhile, then fixed some alignment issues and the cam bolts stayed tight too.

My RK arms need a little love. We discovered one was totally seized from exposure to Mag-Chloride here. I need to see if I can free it back up.

I'm kinda saddened that they didn't relocate the lower rear shocks like Nth had originally started out doing.
