Admins/Mods?

Just curious who the Admins and Moderators are on here.

There seems to be an epidemic of spambots getting through the sign up process.

Can you upgrade the security using the "Captcha" software? We use this on our forum and it has all but eliminated the spammers from getting through.

Another thing, Instead of just banning the spammers, you need to remove their posts with the active links in them. Maybe just delete those accounts instead of bans?

How about taking away the 30 second time restraint to search or post for red star members?

That's a little tougher than it sounds... I paid a programmer to hack that on Pirate4x4, and then the hack was no longer compatible with the new VBulletin software when we upgraded.

When I am stupid and spell my search wrong, it is annoying to have to wait 30 seconds to search again. I am totally impatient. :beer:

bummer. Well, if you decide to look into it again, there may be someone on here that could help out with it. (there seem to be a lot of us geeky IT people on here.)

I hear ya! That's one of the most annoying features. Why even have the delay?

It's to control server load, but it still sucks.

yeah without it, a few will written bots could hit the server too hard with multiple searches and potentially crash the site
