Speaking out of turn... I'd say no he didn't. He said he used 8ga wire and hopefully no one plugs something using 8ga wire into the power port that comes stock on a JK, or any other vehicle for that matter. You might let all the smoke out of the port and then it won't work.Venom, did you hardwire the inverter or is it plugged it to your cigarette lighter?
x2! My first electronic mod was when I did the DVD monitor hookup to the HU (it was intimidating at first, but the step by step write ups I read on how to do it made it very easy for me). Those are the kinda write ups I hope people will start posting here as well!Vehicle wiring is something I'm interested in as well, but have practically no experience doing... for those of you in the know, would you consider a "Wiring 101"-type technical write up for us wiring newbs? I'm sure it would be very helpful to more than just FzyPchs and myself, and it sure would be appreciated. Just a thought.![]()
That would be awesome, and that's one of the only things holding me back from installing bigger/badder lighting... Thanks in advance!that's a good idea
Probably one of the first should be on hooking up a relay to the stock fog light circuit.
If you want to upgrade your lights, the factory uses 35watt bulbs, most aftermarkets start at 55watts. BUT with our all knowing computer if you try to run a 55watt off of the stock circuit, it gets unhappy and shuts it down. So adding a relay is the only way to go.
If someone doesn't get to it first I'll try to do a basics of wiring thing and maybe a couple of specific deals.
I'm no guru by any stretch, but I've run a lot of wires and made a lot of crap work :bounce:
